I think he meant that slipknot started a transition into his liking metal, not that slipknot was the first real *metal* band he liked. Listening to metal is pretty much a natural progression from listening to nu metal, alternative metal, that shit.

haha I never really got into Slipknot. I listened to Korn...but that's not what got me into metal. (I randomly heard some death metal on the radio one day and tossed Korn aside lol and not to mention I was already familiar with old school metallica and classic heavy metal)
