Hi everyone; the name's Kayvan and I'm in over in Johns Creek. I like a lot of different music, but have been a metal fan for a long time now. Not originally from Georgia, but have been around the area for years. Thanks!

Hey Kayvan, you're still in ATL?

I guess I'm late in doing this (some of you already know me)...but I've been going to metal shows in ATL since around 1991 (Clash Of The Titans at the old Omni was my first), but anyways I'm Eric. I live in Athens but party in the ATL from time to time (and work here).

I played in Eridian which later became Awaken The Ancient. Currently practicing with Devin to hopefully get Malefic resurrected.

I like mud/obstacle course runs and long walks on the beach, and am realizing I'm getting too old for the pit.

This is me when I was all young and cool:

And this is how my lame old self usually looks now (and that's my daughter):

Hey Eric, good to hear from you and great looking kid. :) Athens, and work in ATL? Man, that's got to be a long commute.

Yep...still around, although I haven't been to any shows in a long time. Good to hear you're still playing; hopefully things work out with Malefic and can catch a gig sometime.

Here's me being a balding old dude from last year I think:

Hi :-) I just moved to ATL and I'm wondering where the best places are to go to shows. I know about the Masquerade, but I really prefer little hole in the wall dives. I also enjoy drinking and sitting in on jam sessions, too. Any suggestions?

Welcome. 529 in East Atlanta has been the happening place for smaller/mid sized metal shows as of late and definitely a showcase for the very best local metal with some of the best sound in the city for its meager size. The Earl down the street also has a good number of shows. Jack's Pizza and The Highlander are also good for occasional shows, but mostly for rad drinking/juke box sessions. Be sure to check the Concert forum on here and the WREKage (Atlanta's killer metal radio show on 91.1 FM Friday nights) website for upcoming shows and venue info.

Welcome to the boards, dude. There is some great local talent in this town: Mangled, Disfigurement, Sadistic Ritual, Lectures on the Apocalypse just for starters. You can usually find at least one of us bastards at Jack's or The Highlander before or after a show taking over the jukebox.

Awesome, thank you! 529 is really close to where I'm staying. I might head on on Tuesday to see War Master.

My name's Brad. I was an artsy fartsy hipster kid in Athens for two years, graduated, went back to Warner Robins (if you know of it, then i'm sorry) and now live in Atlanta. Waiting tables, jamming with whoever I can, writing black metal tunes through my PC. Trying to get laid. Just another day in the life.

Hi everybody. The name's Ron and i'm currently living smack dab in the middle of Georgia's fine Bible Belt.

I'm hoping to find more like-minded people musically and i'm glad to be a part of the community.

I've been posting a bit here for a while, but I've yet to introduce myself. My name's Doug, and up in the northern exurbs. I've been in and around Atlanta since high school, and if you're bored I can tell you all about shows in the late 80s / early 90s at the Metroplex, Center Stage, etc. I lived in Europe for 3 years in the 90s as well.

Anyway, none of my old metal buddies go to shows any longer. I don't get out as much as I'd like (2-year old at home), but I still do every once in a while. If anyone plans on seeing Solstice/Hellwitch on the 14th, let me know.

Hello everyone!
First of all, I am very glad that I have found this forum! This place seems to be perfect for my further preparation :D

But now to me: My name is Sarita, I am 27 years old from Germany and study English and German at University. In the framework of my study, I have to stay in a foreign country for 3 months and since I have family in Atlanta, I will stay in Atlanta for that time!

Of course I listen to metal and I am quite afraid of not finding a pub or something else where I can listen to some good metal stuff! So I really hope you can give me quite a few recommendations for places where you can party at weekends.
Furthermore, I hope to get some information about the possibilities to drive home in the night since I have heard that Marta does not provide the security at night that our institution provides in Germany :D
I am not used to the way you party in America, but here we party like hell and so... Yeah, I am looking forward to your recommendations :)

Sarita

Edit: I forgot (in case someone is interested): my favorite kind of metal is death and thrash metal, but I also love to see Grindcore Bands on stage! But in general I like to listen to nearly every kind of metal, even Steel Panther :D
