sorry that this is late but Martyrs is NOT fucking "torture porn". more than 80% of the movie has fuck-all to do with torturing and the parts that do have extreme relevance to a real plot. Having torture scenes doesnt automatically make it HOSTEL. In fact the gory parts of Martyrs aren't even in the torture scene.

Hostel and Saw and co. are not any movies I consider worth a wet shit, and I liked Martyrs. Plus really hot french chicks.

SlashAndThrash, have you seen "In My Skin"? Also hot french chicks, also not torture porn. I love it and I think you might like it too.

However I could be wrong -- one dude pretty much stopped talking to me after I made him watch it. Crybaby.

wolf creek kinda sucks. i saw it at the theatre, its sooooo slow before anything good happens, and when the good stuff happens, it goes by so quick, lacks intensity and suspense. but there were a couple cool parts, no desire to see it again though.
your church was turned into an abortion clinic and we use it all the time... sluts!!!

I thought Martyrs was pretty good. Trash Humpers is an awesome fucked up movie by Harmony Korine.

Yeah it was kinda boring sometimes and whatnot. Julian Donkey Boy is another weird fucked up movie by Harmony Korine. You should check it out if you haven't already. There is an old dude doing shots of Robitussin out of a shoe and trash can wrestling, no humping though haha.

Last night we watched Bronson. What a fucked up flick that is...Basically, it's an arty take on the true story of Britain's most violent inmate, some psycho who changed legally changed his name to Charles Bronson on the advice of his bare knuckles fight promoter. In short, Since going inside in '74 for stealing about $40 he's seen the street for less than five months. Basically, he's extended his sentence over and over because of his psychotic violence with buffet side of kidnappings.

What's really fucked up about this flick is that it's a very toned down version of the real dude's life story.

Similarly, in the toned down from real life, but still fucked up film family is an Aussie flick called Animal Kingdom about a bogan crime family led by a wicked grandma. It's a bit tough to follow due to the amount of dudes who look alike and are related, but it's worth it if you dig gritty, true crime flicks.

It's very different from Drive, which I suppose speaks to the director's talent.

Indeed. And if that is tame compared to his real life... Holy shit. I did Google the guy after I watched it, but that was a while back. Apparently I didn't get all of the dirt. Either way, it's an interesting watch.
I'm so afraid. Wolf knows where I am.

the most fucked up film i've seen lately is "the oregonian". still not quite sure what happened in it (although i have a "carnival of souls" theory), but it was strange enough to almost be an avant garde horror film.

not really fucked up, but i great one is "tucker and dale vs evil". that one was surprisingly good.

I think I expected too much because Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk are fucking hilarious IRL. But yeah, it was really good, and not so scary that the husband couldn't also watch it. Poor thing.

This junk was hilarious. I put it right up there with Thankskilling and Gingerdead Man. The first half hour, no scene goes over 45 seconds. And the sound effects are straight off one of those Party City Sound FX cds you can get for $3 -- foghorn, bicycle bell, seagulls, etc. I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me. Also I'm pretty sure Netflix only owns one copy since they had to ship this one from Florida.

In other words, this one is OSCAR CALIBER compared to Birdemic.

Tried to watch Fido and made it through about 20 minutes of it. Anyone watch it all the way?
