FTTA 2011 in the woods?
A few of us are camping out this year at Eyedrum for the fest so it got us to thinking and we'd like to get some feedback on this. Who would be down for a festival being held on camping grounds next year?
The idea is to have a ticket price that would be all inclusive to include price of admission to the fest+camping site+1 meal opening day, 2 meals on day 2 and an after fest morning brunch.

Don't want to camp with a bunch of people I don't know.
Would rather put the inevitable $100+ ticket money towards something cooler like Maryland Deathfest.
Not gonna like every band playing...why would I want to be confined to a small area where there aren't any other options of things to do?
Anyway, everyone knows the only music suitable for the woods is Black Metal.

i don't think it's a good idea.
the logistics of getting all the bands gear to wherever it's happening would suck not to mention you'd need generators and an ass load of fuel which is especially pricey plus lighting and means to cook any sort of food you'd be preparing for a bunch of people as well as a way to keep refrigerated items from spoiling for multiple days. plus people's belongings being left out all day while they watch bands is just asking for someone to steal your shit. you'd also have to figure out a way to keep all the bands gear secure and then you'd have to worry about the weather and keeping bands gear dry and having a place for the bands to play where they won't get electrocuted or ruin their gear in the event that it does rain.
i think the bottom line with fests is people don't want to pay for extra shit. they are paying to see the bands and any expense the promoters incur above that is just adding to the ticket price which will deter people from coming. the target market for any sort of extreme metal/punk fest is primarily young adults who realisticly don't have much money so adding extra cost to the initial investment of getting them there isn't smart.
providing bands with food is always a good (and very appreciated) idea but as far as fest-goers are concerned: they're adults and can figure that kind of stuff out for themselves.

An idea like this works very well in the scooter community. Obviously the style of music is very different, but all of the other logistics similar and are easily sorted out and for a good price (never more than $35 for a whole weekend. However, those rallies are put on by entire clubs chipping in to make everything happen and usually there would be, at most, two bands who get paid and everyone else plays just for the fun of it. To make it work on a larger scale without club members donating supplies and man power and with more bands wanting to get paid would be a tough job. Not impossible, just tough.
Personally, I loathe camping and wouldn't be into it, but I'm sure I'm in the minority there.
