Atlanta Halloween Events

Post by serpentfoot » Wed October 13th, 2010, 2:21 pm

So its that season where there is way too much stuff going on for all of us horror fans in Atlanta. Our horror community is like no other in this country and I'm really proud to be here. Now with that being the case when it hits october there's more to do than one can keep up with! So lets start a thread on Halloween in Atlanta. Im opening this up to all halloween events, haunted houses, parties, movie screenings etc. Whats going on this october? I'll gladly kick it off with my own personal project Chambers of Horror. I will gladly and shamelessly promote on here as i would expect of any haunt owner/worker. In Atlanta we play nice-ISH with competing haunted houses. So lets keep it clean.

Chambers of Horror

Rated #13 Must-See Haunt in the Nation by Haunted Attraction Magazine

Atlanta’s adults-only extreme haunted house, Chambers of Horror is the most disturbing and shocking horror attraction in the nation! Tour the TORTUREco facilities behind the Masquerade music complex in downtown Atlanta to see the disaffected wreak havoc on the flesh of the innocent. No man or woman is safe from the psychotic Dr. Splatter, so twisted that even TORTUREco corporate management doesn’t have a handle on him. Visit the Splatter Bar & Lounge and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat with entertainment while you wait to have the fright of your life! It’s the best place to spend Halloween in Atlanta.

Now what else is out there and what are your experiences this halloween. Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse, Netherworld, L5P parade?

Friday, 10/22 at Picaflor on Arizona is a MisFits inspired art show and a bunch of bands doing mini sets of 'Fits chunes.

I tend to think that MisFits cover sets are over done, but since it's the Halloween season, there's an art show and I was asked to do it with some friends I'm in for the good times. I think we are playing under the name IAIN'TNOGODDAMNSONUVABITCH, but that could change.

I'll post more when I have the specifics.

Yeah, that doesn't fit in my calendar. So I'm putting it in as PisShits.

That sounds awesome. 99% chance I'll be out of town but in the 1% case where I'm not, I know where I'll be.

I'll be working at Netherworld ofcourse.

I do want to check this out though...maybe on one of the few days off that I have. One of those is reserved for taking a friend through Netherworld though lol

As for shamelessly promoting: Netherworld was rated #1 nationally by a few different sources...check it out if you haven't! This is my 5th season in a row there...I love it!

There's a few other things going on, the Spook Show, the L5P Halloween Parade, and countless parties.

I'd like to go to the parade if it's early enough (gotta be at Netherworld by 6pm at the latest). And if my other job doesn't interfere, I'd like to be in it again!

Edit: I really want to check out the Zombie Apocalypse too...that looks really cool!

And I just looked at my work schedule...I work till 4pm on saturday...yeah I don't think I'll make the parade. That sucks. I shouldve requested that day off! (from the other job)
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

I hit the Chambers of Horror last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've worked a ton of haunted houses so it was cool seeing something different. It made me wish I could go through it with the mind of someone who isn't already warped so I could have been properly disturbed by it. haha

Next on the list is definitely the Zombie Apocalypse.

lol same here. I remember going through some haunted house in NYC when I was 15 or so and I had a blast...me and my cousin were laughing and screaming and we were scared. Not now though! I miss the feeling of actually being scared...it makes it that much more fun!

Now, I get all caught up in the scenery and I generally know when someone will come out at me and I just don't have the same feeling of being scared. I've been to a few other haunts and they sucked (someone sitting on a couch crying is NOT scary! That's just stupid.) Well, even more excuse to check out Chambers of Horror since I haven't been there yet!

Actually, I worked at Nightmare/Crypt of Terror a while back (way back) and have to admit that some of what I experienced working there actually instilled a bit of genuine fear of such places in me.

A friend and I were chilling at one of the emergency exits just watching the crowd line up. He was tripping his nuts off and holding an axe. If that wasn't bad enough he was just sitting there grinning from ear to ear going, "I just wanna fucking kill 'em all!" I don't think he was just trying to get into character either.

Anyway, check out Chambers for sure. I don't consider it scary...as in, I don't think that's the intent. It's more disturbing/discomforting. They threw a little bit of comedy in as well.

For some reason this reminded me of a house in the neighborhood where I grew up. Every Halloween this one dude would put on a flannel, jeans, and a wolf mask. He would put a chain around his neck, leash himself to the one tree in the yard, and then sit in a chair with the bowl of candy in his lap. We never ever ever ever went to that house.

My wife worked at Nightmare about 15 years ago. She said that several of the guys she worked with were later arrested for murder and some other guys were arrested for rape. Evidently some of these places are scarier than the customers realize.

The reality is so much scarier than the illusion. haha

Hell, the part of town the Zombie Apocalypse is set up...seriously with all of the shiftless meth-heads in that area I don't know if you'd be able to tell where the attraction actually ends.

I've got a new Halloween Attraction idea. It's called "The Haunted Hood." It's set up in the apt. complex across from the Starlight. You know, the one that is walled in and gated. Anyway, let you in at one side and if you live, exit the other. That'd be some scary shit.

That's about a half mile from where I live. Thomasville Heights was no joke. It may not have had the name cache of some of ATL's other sketchy areas, but was constant gunfire from that place. It's gonne now, though. It was torn out a few months back. The word was that one of those live/work/play mixed use places was going in. For now it looks like Ground Zero. I can't believe that anyone actually believed that was going to happen.

When I was about 17 we went on an "errand" into that neighborhood. No fun. No fun at all.
