Atlanta Metal Comp
This has been something I've thought about doing for a while and even discussed with people but never actually took the time to take it further so here are my thoughts, feel free to share yours...
- If enough bands throw in a track we could press a compilation of current atlanta bands, split the cost and records between all those involved, create something cool, and hopefully break even at the end of the day.
- Only vinyl is real so this should def be LPs. If we have at least 10 bands we're looking at maybe $200 - $300 per band total. We can evaluate cost once the numbers are more defined but that's a decent ballpark.
- I don't really want to put a cut off date out there for submissions because shit takes time but if you want to be on it you will need to have a track and money ready in a reasonable amount of time so let's say 6 months or so from now.
- Time constraints for an LP at 33rpm is 18 minutes per side which will be evenly split between the bands who are on it. We'll figure out a more definite number of minutes per band once we see how many bands are involved.
- I would prefer new/exclusive tracks. No one wants a record with a bunch of jams they've already heard.
So... anyone interested?

Oddly enough, I was skimming through old posts yesterday during my lunch break as a time killer. It's generally a comedic goldmine, but I spent most of my time on a thread from a few years back with a similar idea. It eventually turned into a big argument thread, but yeah....point is....this would be rad.
with any luck this thread will be equally productiveBrian wrote:Oddly enough, I was skimming through old posts yesterday during my lunch break as a time killer. Ryan, you know I'm down. this is something I've wanted to do for a decade now but we'd really need to put some sort of website collective scene thing together. you know, kind of like how a label site is put together but for the scene instead. BUT, I think it needs to be limited to bands that are actively participating and supporting the scene. Not just anyone that comes up with the money. I might even be able to drum up a little cash support from sponsors too. It's a long shot but a real possibility.
I do own www.atlantagrind.com just for such a purpose.
And, I'm sure Longoria would be happy to track any bands without cash for studio time. Well, to some degree.

Good idea.
Could easily get the site started. Not to mention, we could really just do a digital comp. Free download w/ a donate button. Then, if money arises to cover the record budget (and mine & ryan's smoke budget!), we press the rotten bastard!
the site would be cake. I'm a developer and as many other metal nerds there are around, we'd get it built in no time once we have some real content.
