Polish/Russian/Slavic metal

Everyone knows Behemoth and Vader. I recently heard Lost Souls and was into their tunes. As far as Slavic metal I know Drudkh, which I love. I'm searching for more Eastern European metal.

No Behemoth knock offs thank you, *cough*hate*cough*

Certainly listening to Ysigim right now. Very good funeral doom.

I think Avenger is from around that region. Also, Hell-Born is from Poland I believe.

Dies Irae has all ex vader members and definitely sounds as such. Thunderbolt from poland is pretty badass too, Virgin Snatch can be cool at times as well

Decapitated is from Poland.

Chaosfrost is a good Atmospheric Black Metal band.

Act of God has a good Mayhem cover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifvb6_N3BSw

My most Favorite Slavic-Russian band is Aria http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQiQ17H4hE

I've only heard a little bit of Master's Hammer. I'm surprised I haven't listened to more isn't there another band with an identical name? I remember Ingrowing from MDF! I didn't realize they wre from that part of the world.

Also thanks for reintroducing me to Comatose Vigil. I forgot about that band all together. I discovered them when I discovered Funeralium.

We could easily fill an entire post with awesome Czech bands. There were quite a few Czech bands at MDF that year. Pigsty, Jig Ai, Malignant Tumor, Ingrowing, Gride, and maybe one or two others I can't recall right now. I don't know of another Master's Hammer though. All four of those full lengths are worth a fair listen. Mantras was a pretty awesome comeback in my opinion.

Lot of great stuff from Russia along with Comatose Vigil and Abstract Spirit too. You'd probably like some of Arcanar, Who Dies in Siberian Slush, Ea, Aethyr, Aglaomorpha, and Ekklesiast (Екклесиаст).

edit: In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I think that the Aglaomorpha/Opaque Lucidity collaboration album that came out a couple of years ago is one of the better death/doom albums I've heard. I'd stack it up against anything along those lines from the last 10 years.
