Honda publicizes massive recall of 206 Ridgeline trucks

Post by Anonymous » Sat February 11th, 2012, 3:08 am

Honda has publicized a small recall of the Ridgeline pickup. The problem is with the spare tire that is set up at the factory and the placard over it put into the vehicle. The incorrect size of tire was installed in up to 206 vehicles leaving the factory.

Working with the wheel

Some of the 2011 and 2012 Ridgeline pickup trucks have a problem that the Antonio Highway Traffic Security Administration pointed out to Honda, as reported by USA Today. The automobile may not be safe in all situations with an issue that happened in the factory.

A mistake at the factory falsely labeled a tire information placard concerning the spare tire. The placard, as reported by Autoguide, is located on the driver’s side doorjamb. The placard carries information about the spare tire, such as proper tire pressure, which is wrong because of the wrong spare tire being in-stalled.

Rather than the small spare tire that is normally set up, full-size spares were installed. The placard displays info for the compact spare, which does not comply with FMVSS regulations.

Will not cost to repair

USA Today explains that U.S. Ridgelines were given the compact spare. The full-size spare was put in Ridgelines meant to be exported. Of the 2011 and 2012 model years, there are only 206 vehicles that will really be affect-ed.

Honda technicians are going to inspect the spare and placard for all Ridgelines that are affected. The technicians will replace the placard to match the info about the spare for free. Owners should be notified soon of the prob-lem.

Owners of affected Ridgelines will be contacted by mid-February. There have been no accidents or injuries reported because of the problem.

Full-size is better sometimes

It costs a lot of cash to get a full-size tire. The Hankook DYNAPRO AS RH03 costs $128.93 to get at Sears.com and is the cheap-est one you are able to get in the size P245R/65R17, which is the size required for the Honda Ridgeline, according to ConsumerGuide Automotive. Edmunds explained that you can check your compart-ment under the bed lining if you would like to know if you are affected.

On the subject of mounting a spare to the truck bed that is always an option assuming the full does not fit in the spare compartment. This is occasionally the case for Ridgelines.

Well, it's not only Ridgeline trucks but also Odyssey minivan. Honda has announced a recall for the Odyssey minivan. The recall concerns just fewer than 46,000 units from the 2008 and 2009 model years. The concern is with the pneumatic struts on the rear door in designs equipped with the power-assisted rear door. There have only been seven reported instances of the failure, according to the New York Times, and only two cases in which an injury was reported. In both cases, according to MSNBC, the injury was minor. Source of article: Honda Odyssey recall announced due to rear door issue.

It has been nonoperational for almost six months, because of substantial flooding experienced in the nation in the fall of 2011And now Thanks God for according to a report from Reuters, the Honda Thailand plant â€â€￾ which was arguably the worst hit by the disaster is back online and ready to start producing more cars. In totality, the Japanese-based automaker says it lost 260,000 vehicles from its anticipated fiscal year that ended earlier in March. For more details: you can buy a used Honda.
