Top 5 favorite Metal album cover art?

Post by DarkWolfen » Sat June 25th, 2005, 2:11 am

Of all the many albums in your collection, what is your top 5 favorite metal album cover art?

1. Metallica- Master of Puppets, has one of the best covers, far superior to any other cover.

2. Bathory- Blood On Ice, a very wintry and compelling one. The story written on the cover.

3. Type O Negative-Bloody Kisses, who doesn't like Lesbians kissing.

4. Moonspell-Wolfheart, Wolves fighting to the death, beautiful.

5. Carnivore-Retalliation, the original not the remaster, great colors.

the last two Tool albums are really the only ones that stick out in my mind.

The rest is all a sea of gore and body parts in my mind.

I thought the best Sepultura albums had good art (Beneath the Remains, Arise, Chaos AD). Motorhead had a lot of cool covers. Demoncy has some scary-cool artwork - I forget the name of the artist but it's top notch evil.

art was the one thing I really miss about albums - you bought an album and practically had yourself a poster. Condensing the art to about 1/4 the size for cds really sucks. and that's why I download music off the internet!

I agree completely, the big covers are essential, thats why I started buying albums on vinyl.

Hmm...Album art?

Some of these I really like not sure quite why...

Tiamat - Wildhoney (Really pretty , yet very evil looking)
Coven - Boneless Christian (Would Make An Awesome Tattoo)
Sinister - Hate (Two Pictures In One)
Misfits (Earth A.D.)
Acheron - Rebirth: Metamorphosing Into Godhood (Naked Chick With A Devil Baby Coming Out Of Her C**t.)
Also most of the COF artwork is cool too , they have some nice stuff visually anyhow

Yeah that is definitely some good artwork on the new Red Chord.

The last Fantomas album had an awesome book full of surgical pictures in it, unfortunately the album isn't near the same quality.
