Welcome to Amurica!

These threads have some good info, I recall a third one too about someone visiting/moved from the UK was it? But can't find it now.

Absolutely. The Highlander bar in Midtown is probably the closest thing to a metal pub that we have. The back bar is great on a Friday or Saturday night. Plenty of long-hairs feeding the juke box all night. The bartenders are known to skip non-metal juke picks (much to my delight). Pretty good food to soak up the booze also.

Jack's Pizza and Wings is another rad hangout on a Saturday too. Unbelievabley cheap drinks. $4 PBR pitchers every day and plenty of metalheads working there as well. The music's not as consistent, but they occassionally have bands play free shows.

And if you really want to cap off the real Atlanta experience, check out the Clermont Lounge. That's all I'll say about the Clermont.

Definitely take a look at the "concert" section here on ther board. There are
a ton of amazing shows coming this summer. Horna, Ghoul, Gates of Slumber, Church of Misery, Kommandant, etc. are all playing in the city this summer. Lots of excellent local acts are included like Hellgoat, Mangled, Disfigurement, Lectures on the Apocalypse...I'm extremely happy to say that Atlanta's finally got some great shit happening.

edit: I should probably mention the East Atlanta Village as well. A lot of the afore mentioned shows are happening at clubs there like The Earl and 529. That area and Little Five Points are sort of the city's hipster headquarters, but has some decent record stores, bars, and resturaunts. You can find some place to party any night of the week there.

When are you gonna be visiting Atlanta? There's more than a few of us who are always down to grab a beer.

Can someone tell me where I can get drunk in ATL? I'm thinking about going out to get drunk in ATL tonight. What are some good beers to drink while getting drunk? Where are some good places to drink these beers while getting drunk? Is it a good idea to go out and drink beer and get drunk? Any thoughts? What are your favorite beers? Where are your favorite bars? Anyone?

I don't think they have a show tonight. The club connected to it does have some party-type thing around 10-11PM but it's more....urban...
