Guitar/Bass/Amplifier worship thread (now with trades)

Post by dopesmoker » Tue September 25th, 2012, 2:13 am

For those of you who play to those who wish they could post your interests about string instruments and the amps that power them.

Here is my current rig.

I designed it mainly for ambient projects. I am currently looking at purchasing a 2x12 for my guitar heads since i had to ditch the 4x12 before my move here.

What are you guys playing with/hoping to acquire?

I don't play an instrument, but I love to "play."

Funny timing. I just took a shot of my daily rig last night.

Image
  • Custom picks
    Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys (10-46)
86 Gibson Melody Maker reissues with Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pick-ups
    Curly cable (love this thing)
Korg Pitch Black tuner (the simple version - best, most durable tuner ever)
    Morley A/B box
Sovtek Mig 100 that's been modded to sound like a 100h
Marshall 800 (also modded to sound tougher)
Slant front and straight JCM800 cabs with Celestion 75s (I think that's right. It's been ages since I thought about the speakers. I wouldn't mind changing them out for some low wattage Greenbacks, but fuck it...)

I don't play pedals or effects, because I don't play stuff that benefits from being fucked with.

As for what I'd like to have...I really don't care. I've owned so much crap over the years and still have tons of other gear not pictured.

I'm really happy with this live set up. I've been using pretty much the exact same rig for about 15 years. Getting anything new is really more of a hassle than anything else.

I love Melody Makers so I'd like to check out one of those Joan Jett signature models and I love the style and set up of the (yes, he's a douchebag) Scott Ian signature Jacksons in coffinburst with only a rhythm pick up, but don't like that it has a wider than normal neck, so I probably wouldn't be happy actually playing it. I really love that Les Paul Juniors - especially in TV Yellow - and that one that Billy Joe smashed the other night broke my heart.

I have a shitty Alvarez acoustic that's been all fucked with and now plays great, but I'd really like someday to have an old black or grey Gibson that feels like an electric.

Hey dudes I have some gear lying around I would like to trade. Available are

Red Witch Titan Delay (includes box)

Voodoo Labs Tremolo (Box included)

Dan Electro Cool Cat Chorus (box included)

Electro Harmonix Cathedral Reverb (Original power supply not included but I do have a radioshack adapter that can be used for it...I think...I need to look for it)

Let me know what you have available or if you would like to buy them outright. I am mainly looking for trades however.

What do you have?

That Fulltone Tube Tape Echo looks fucking AWESOME! I had an older tape echo when I was really young. The tape eventually broke or something like that but holy god at the price for that Fulltone! That's a lot of money...wish it were cheaper.

I personally just spent $400 on a goddamn boomerang 3 looper pedal. Thought I could use it a lot more than I really can (with a drummer) so I'm a bit bummed. It's really cool though and I think I'm getting better at it. We'll see, I guess.

-------------
I have no pictures but here is a summary of what I have:

Gibson Les Paul Studio

B.C. Rich "Virgin" N.J. Series

Line 6 HD150 half stack (all I could afford when I bought it. I'm saving up for another head/cab combo though so I can use the "stereo" functions that the boomerang 3 pedal is capable of)

Boss Digital Delay pedal

and the Boomerang 3 looper
-------------

I just wish I knew more about "gear". I've been playing guitar for more than 10 years now, yet I couldn't begin to tell you anything about the specifics of a certain guitar or amp head. I'm very dumb when it comes to that stuff.

What did you do with the tape delay?

Also what kind of music are you trying to make?

Im not entirely sure whatever happened to that tape delay, unfortunately. I think it actually belonged to someone else who left it at my house for some time and they eventually got it back after the damage had been done (more from eventual wear and tear rather than my own personal use).

And I guess the band im in and struggling to get back on it's feet plays a mix of post rock and sludge(ish) metal. Hell, I don't know. I hate trying to classify this shit, hah.

Just added the octa switch to the rig. Set up now runs like this

guitar>>tuner>>wah>>fuzz>>rat>>big muff+eq>>digitech whammy>>TTE>>Tremolo>>Amp

The Down Side is you need double the cabling to get it all up and running.

Does anyone have a phaser they are looking to get rid of or make a trade for?
