A huge asteroid is headed for earth...

Post by Moloc » Thu December 26th, 2013, 6:37 pm

and you've got one night left on earth. What band/concert would you want to see? It can be one you've already seen or even a band that doesn't exist anymore. But you've only got one night to (re)experience this show. What would it be?

Yes, this is a very cheesy topic, but I don't think the answer is that easy. I had to think about it for a long time. My cousin asked me this when he was visiting for the holidays.

I think the line up for End of the World Fest would be 1349, Motorhead, Black Sabbath (from the 1970's), Dead Kennedys, Ghoul, Midnight, Venom, Speedwolf, Iron Maiden, Carcass, Kreator, Johnny Cash, Devo and Bolt Thrower. (I'll most likely change my answer in future posts. I couldn't even narrow it down to ten.)

Man, I was really hoping a huge asteroid was headed for earth. Way to get my hopes up.

I would definitely go to Moloc's show. But I would have to bring G.B.H and Belphegor with me. And Elvis.

Edit: The fat sweaty Elvis.

Hmmm. My real life "must see" list gets smaller every summer, but...

Manfred Mann's Earthband about '74 - '78
Zappa any time (Montreux Casino if I could be picky about it)
Joe Walsh touring for Barnstorm
Sugarcubes with Miracle Legion in '88
Van Halen at Gazzarri's
WASP around '86
Hellhammer about '82
Darkthrone live in '96
Devil Doll
Ahab
Root
Ondskapt
Bestia Arcana
...and the rest, heeeere on Gilligan's Isle

I hear I may get some Hellhammer treats during Triptykon's set. So, I'll be asleep standing up until I hear one...and I'll fuckin' take it!

They will probably play "Messiah" and maybe even "Satanic Rites".

Would be peachy if I could see an Emperor performance that in any way approximated the shit I saw in my head the first time I heard Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, my first "exotic" extreme metal album, before I knew that Grieghallen wasn't a cloud-level stone fortress populated by actual trolls and that these musicians hadn't come riding out on bat-winged demon-steeds from a split in the side of the rock.

Or maybe King Diamond performing Abigail in a certain mansion in darkness in 1845. Or Fates Warning on the Guardian tour. Or Current 93 during the recording of that Hitler as Kalki live album.

Why is this game depressing me?

For decades my dream line up has been the following, all at the top of their game:

Runaways
Girlschool
Saxon
Hanoi Rocks
Rose Tattoo
Thin Lizzy
Slade

Now I'd want to add in a special set by Darkthrone playing from The Cult is Alive forward.

If I go any deeper I'll just be listing off every band that I love and want to see play (again).

Dystopia
yob play catharsis in its entirety
Bolt Thrower

I would pay handsomely to go to this.
