Bands you listened to in your younger days.

Post by Thrashmania » Sun November 1st, 2015, 12:40 pm

This came up on the drive home last night. What are some bands you used to listen to, that now when you hear or think about it you go "meh"?

Some of ours were:
Arch Enemy
Black Label Society
Behemoth

Nirvana.
Rage Against the Machine.
Most of Soundgarden, except for maybe that second record.
Most of classic Anthrax.
Half of classic Metallica.

I knew right from the beginning that you would end up winning.

I was feeling a little cranky last night: must have been some kids on my lawn.

Iron Maiden
Mayhem
Rage Against The Machine
DRI
Necrophagist
Most of Slayer after Reign in Blood
The week I got into Cradle of Filth

It's their Southern accent.

Can't say I'm far off from this myself. Never cared much for Mayhem or DRI. And I don't know the last time I've listened to a full Maiden album, usually only a song here and there. Granted, I don't find myself being grossed out by these bands.

hmmm

In Flames (their earlier stuff...never liked their later stuff. Too ghey)
Dimmu Borgir
Cradle of Filth

I still like early stuff from In Flames and most of Dimmu Borgir's stuff but I'm not obsessed like I was 10 or 11 years ago.

CoF...was picky about what songs I liked from them from the get go and now, they're definitely meh. I did listen to them in high school because of their shock factor. Now I could give 2 shits about that.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Right before I got into metal proper -- so we're talking 1984-85 -- my two favorite bands were KISS and Huey Lewis and the News.

"Heart and Soul" has some heavy riffs.

Exactly, it's not that I hate them or I refuse to listen to them. I'm just not interested in it anyway. However, I am going to take my girlfriend to see DRI live since she likes punk music. I'm going to pass on the Mayhem/Watain tour.
