He kicks my ass at the guitar. Sweep picking for some reason eludes my wrist.

Yes, that's sweep picking. I think it's fake because it seems like sometimes he's playing too high up on the neck for some of those notes, also, if he's some kid playing on his webcam, the audio quality wouldnt be so good. Soudned like part of the recording. Also, at one part he was playing in harmony, which is impossible unless he had a good pedal or something.

i agree and there were some techniques being done in the music that his hands never even did.

He may be faking it or playing along with the music...it's hard to tell. If he isn't faking it, he's pretty good.

Yeah I agree with Will and Blaze, His hands are moving much slower than the tempo it is played. (this may contribute to his sloppyness in sweeps) He doesnt do any of the vibratos that there are on this backing track, and most of all, this guitar appears to be a squire or fender without any humbuckers, and you cant get that good of a tone out of that guitar.

Im not so sure that it can be ruled as a fake.

He could have easily recorded direct and just synced the sound up with the video. Who says he has to record with the webcam audio? The harmony could have been part of the backing track. Could very well be some of his own material that he "filmed" himself playing the lead track to.

Sweeps can often look very deceiving when it comes to speed (even ones that are played sloppy). Watch his pick hand as he changes through the different techniques, its alot more apparent that he is probably playing this. The tone sounds just like every other Yngwie neo-classical wannabe thats out there, and you guessed it, they are all playing strats.

Its a tough call because the audio is not live from the video feed. My vote would go for it being real. I mean why would you fake to a less than stellar guitar track if you were going to fake in the first place? So my vote goes for Yes hes playing it, as if anyone cares.

Just like the video of Super Mario 3 being beaten in 10min or whatever, I'm going with fake on this one.
