no more Vehemence (from blabbermouth)

Post by ProstheticHead12 » Sat October 15th, 2005, 9:54 am

Arizona-based death metallers VEHEMENCE have issued the following statement:

"Eight years after it all started, we decided that now is the time to throw in the towel. It was fun, and we would like to thank all the people who have supported us along the way. VEHEMENCE was and is a huge part of our lives, but at this point its time to start fresh. The death of VEHEMENCE has since spawned three new bands from its ex-members. ABIGAIL WILLIAMS (info), featuring Mark [Kozuback, bass], Andy [Schroeder, drums] and Bjorn Dannov, guitar] of VEHEMENCE, HE WHO BINDS HIMSELF (info) featuring Nathan [Gearhart, vocals], and as John [Chavez, guitar] stated, 'I'm looking for members for a new band and I am also available for touring. Currently I'm also affiliated with several other side projects which I will release soon.'

"We still have a batch of new shirts coming this year, as well as a new remixed version of our first self-released disc, entitled 'The Thoughts From Which I Hide', that will be available exclusively at www.vehemence.com. VEHEMENCE may do shows every now and then, but will not be a full-time band. Just keep checking our website as that will still be up and running."
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

I'd retract that statement before Greg hunts you down.

Yep, we'll all miss Vehewho? Should anyone care? What on earth could they have possibly contributed to an already oversaturated scene?

I got the news in a bulletin on myspace from John himself. This really sucks. I could listen to God Was Created and Helping the World to See all year long, 2 incredible CDs. I'm glad I saw them twice on their last tour.

Vehemence wasn't a clone band. They were brutal, yet melodic/epic at the same time. I was really looking forward to hearing more material from them.

Yeah, fuck all these death metal bands who aren't making the same Morbid Angel album over and over a thousand times. What a bunch of pussies! Everyone knows if you try something different you must be a gay faggot. And what's with all the gay pianos they used GAY GAY GAY

If you haven't got into any new music the past few years then you're just as bad as people who refuse to give the old stuff a chance. Vehemence was a fuckton better than most bands still around now and were definitely one of the best death metal acts of the last few years.

The problem isn't bands like this contributing to oversaturation, it's oversaturation by shitty metalcore bands keeping people from hearing about good bands like Vehemence was.

Zane, you probably never heard of Vehemence cause they don't advertise in Maxxximum Muscle magazine and I don't believe that any of the members are even on any dietary supplements!

I'm just kidding of course (maybe), so please don't threaten to PYLEDRIVER me!

I'll try to hold myself back.
I suppose I feel the way I do because all I listened to from 91- 00 was basically death and black metal. I burned out on all of it with a few exceptions like Nile, Cryptopsy, and most of the early nineties giants that helped to define the scene. I just haven't heard much that blows me away. I like The Black Dahlia Murders a lot, does that count or are they considered trendy?

Yeah, I was gonna say that Greg can't make the "shitty metalcore" argument, because he listens to BDM.

Of course I can make that argument. There's good metalcore stuff and then there's shitty metalcore.

A band like The Black Dahlia Murder isn't winning any points for originality or anything but I'd definitely say they're the best band doing that style of music right now. Same with Vehemence, they weren't necessarily doing anything new but among current new death metal bands they were easily among the best if not the best. Shitty metalcore oversaturation is keeping people like Zane from finding about the good stuff because they're so tired of digging through a haystack full of crap to find the one needle buried in there somewhere.
