It still sucks that Vitek died (cool that Suffo dedicated their set to him) but I'll be there! Mrs kamal surprised me with some tickets yesterday.

Should be a great show. Amon Amarth setlists that I've seen from this tour are in the 17-18 song range.

We had to leave early, obviously, but this was some of the most fun I've had a show in a long while. Suffo was great and fun but this was more light-hearted since there was a large Swede chugging beer (or hopefully grog) out of a horn on stage and saying "Oh yeah!" like Randy Savage.

We got there right about the time Sonic Syndicate started. From what I remember before I fell asleep, the band was good for people watching: there was a couple booty dancing to the slow songs, some guys with their parents who obviously came for Sonic Syndicate for some reason, a guy in a Goatwhore shirt flipping the band off (thanks for that, by the way), and some assorted dudes who would start headbanging only to catch awkward and disdainful glares from their friends and stop.

Seriously though, why does this band exist? More importantly, why do they have two singers who can't harmonize with each other? I swear I saw only one of them singing but heard two harmonies coming out of the mains so there had to be some serious vocoder action or something going on. Dude also seemed to only know how to say "Fakk!" in English. I used to think the Swedes were ahead of the musical game; this band changed all that. There bassist also needed to eat something.

Amon Amarth was fun, crushing, excellent showmen with an equally excellent set list. I have nothing more to say because their show spoke for itself and I regret not having their earlier records.

Thanks.

I think a good viking time was had by all once the metal started. More people than I expected for a Wednesday night. As for the openers, I'm just greatful that at least Himsa spared us by not showing up.

 man so true! yeah that was strange when they came on. the dude's parents were standing right next to me and the dad started putting up the horns at one point...I thought that was funny hehe. Someone else was yelling "you suck!" and "get off the stage!" and yeah, their bassist was seriously scrawny!

but Amon Amarth was fucking killer! I'd have to say Death in Fire is one of my favorite songs by them...I think it was the 3rd one played. I left during the encore hoping to catch the MARTA bus but I missed it. So I paid a taxi $5 to go to the MARTA station.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Getting drunk and jerking off to Japanese chicks isn't as fulfilling when you know Amon Amarth is a few miles away.

I actually didn't mind Sonic Syndicate. I should hate them based on the fact that they use every single metal cliche that I hate and I think their CD is absolute ass, but they didn't really bother me live.

Amon Amarth was so damn good. I got the setlist at the end and it seems that "An Ancient Sign of a Coming Storm" was a last minute replacement for "Last With Pagan Blood." It would have been nice to see that song but I like Ancient Sign more, so I can't complain.
