Carcass is actually coming here and alot of you are now bitching about the masquerade? at least they're playing here! and besides, bands with higher stature generally have better sound there anyways. Sure it's not Center Stage but its not like they skipped Atlanta for once. so quit bitching.
i'm super stoked that Carcass is coming and coming with Suffocation at that but i still hate the masquerade. and i've seen plenty of great bands have horrible sound at the masquerade......the majority actually. I'd have to say that the only two shows i've seen at the masquerade in years that actually sounded good were Cryptopsy with Lord Worm and Morbid Angel with David Vincent.
I've been to a bunch of shows at the Masquerade over the past 2 years. Probably somewhere around 50. While a lot have had really piss-poor sound, quite a few have been decent to good. It's really just a crapshoot in my experience. Hopefully Carcass will be on the good end.

Here's the weird thing about the 2 Hate Eternal shows I've seen there. One was with Decrepit Birth and 3 Inches of Blood, and the other was with Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust, and Soilent Green. All of the bands had really good sound except for them! Decrepit Birth had probably the best sound I've ever seen there and 3 Inches was very good except for a few mic problems at the very beginning of their set. And then when Hate Eternal headlined for that second show, all of the bands leading up to them sounded great, especially for Hell. But when Hate Eternal went on, it sounded like absolute ass. I honestly think that might be something the band wants.

Do you honestly think that this tour package would even hit half capacity at the Tabernacle? That's 1300 tickets -- more than a sold out Heaven show at the Masquerade. Dimmu/Unearth/Devildriver/Kataklysm barely did half IIRC since they didn't even open up the top balcony for that show. And like it or not, that tour package draws a whole lot more than this tour package. So why would Live Nation waste their money paying for the package, paying the workers at the venue, etc for a show that would barely have any attendance (in comparison to the size of the venue)?

The Masquerade doesn't have the best sound but I like the atmosphere. It fits a metal show much more than the Tabernacle, Roxy, and Center Stage. And really, who gives a damn. It's fucking Carcass!

you might be surprised at the amount of people that come out of the woodwork for bands like Carcass who haven't played here in many many years.

I'd be willing to bet that this show will outdo at least half of what is scheduled at CenterStage in the coming months. take a look at their schedule and let me know what you think. do bands like Clutch, Opeth and Extreme really have that much more of a draw than Carcass? i doubt it.
Yeah, I know of a few people who don't listen to much metal but plan for coming out for Carcass. But I also know a few people who won't be coming to this show because they don't want to "sit through" the opening acts (because they're huge pussies and only like Carcass out of this lineup). Clutch probably would be a smaller draw, but I think that's because they come here every 6 months. There is an unbelievable amount of UGA fratboys who dig that band, or at least there have been the past few times I've seen them. Opeth I think would be a much bigger turnout than Carcass though. They're one of those bands like Dimmu or Cradle of Filth that a lot of non-metalheads listen to. And then throw in the support for that show (High on Fire and Baroness!) and you've got the doom/sludge crowd coming out too. Extreme...well I didn't know people still listened to them.
