Doomsayer seemed pretty cool, but I only heard half a song by them, maybe. We got to the Earl a little late and needed to eat, so we went back out front and had a burger.

Skeletonwitch, I think, stole the show on musical grounds. They thrashed hard and seemed to be enjoying the crowd. I saw a dude slam-dancing in flip-flops and then in barefeet. One word: yuck.

Early Man had mid-80's sensibility. They reminded me of Death Angel with a little Prong and Sabbath thrown in. I'm sure I would have loved them back in the day, if they had been around. I don't remember any of their songs.

Valient Thorr were ... something. I think I can summarize them in one word: Risperdal. I believe that the singer is totally and completely insane. "You know what I'm talkin' about?" His rants were bizarre. For instance, he started by saying it was hot here, but not as hot as it is in the desert. The deserts where our troops are, like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Arizona. He was wearing a shirt that was simple too tight. Later in the show, he said that he had jus seen the shirt that day and he knew that he had to have it, because it was powerful, filled with essences, or some such. He then took the shirt off and wrung what must have been a gallon of sweat out into his mouth and offered to share it with the audience. I have not seen something like that since Jim Rose pumped Slug's stomach and offered the contents to the crowd. Valient Himself is an odd, odd man.

It was good to meet you, Mississippi. I'm sure we'll bump into each other again.

about the flip flops: I moshed in those ONCE and never did it again. My feet were black; not from bruising but from being real fucking dirty. gross for sure!

Moshing in flip-flops is a bad idea for sure. I did it when Arsis came to Under the Couch. Which has tile floors. And it was raining all day. So wet floors + flip flops is not a good idea, which I quickly learned...
