I love paper zines, really truly love them, but I've never seen them as a tool to be aware of what's going to happen in the near future. The nature of zines is such that they are produced on an inconsistent basis as time, work, life, funding and interest allows. The same goes for the reader actually being able to obtain them in a timely manner once they are actually produced.

Having a really solid inclusive Atlanta shows website is the way to go, as what is hardcore to one person is metal to another is garage to another or straight up punk to someone else. Again, an interface like that is driven by user content and the ability of the site owner to keep it up to date; both have to be on their toes for it to work. I can envision how to do it and really make it work, but don't have the technical ability to do so nor the time to learn the technology. Hopefully, somebody will build one sooner or later...

And Gene, just ignore those sadpants. Some people just love seeing shit as a downer.

The point is a zine would be a good medium to allow bands to promote themselves specifically to people who don't have either internet access or a lot time to spend on the internet. Yeah it could have a show calender for shows that are booked in advanced of a print date. But for those without internet access seeing a flyer of a band has more relevance because there is a reference point and they would be more likely than not to go to a show.
