Their set at Scion last year was pretty impressive. The guitar sound was filthy but clear, the room was pretty small though packed, I had had a couple of beers at that point... The set just really sticks out.

1349 was my favorite act of that night. Hands down. Of course I had to miss a few of the other bands

What are the odds that it would be on the opening night of an Opera two years in a row.

...Oh well.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

Has anyone heard anything more about this? Google tells me nothing and I would that, if this is really going to happen, something would pop up somewhere on the web.

man i hope this happens again! last year owned so hard.. highlights for me were:

Neurosis (heaviest thing ive ever seen)
Baroness
Withered (best set ive seen them play)
High on Fire
taping a bottle of whiskey to my leg and chugging it in the heaven bathroom after eating a shit load of oltram. also, smoking a huge macker of some insanely good shit with Mike from withered, Phillip Cope, Laura Pleasants, Diamond Jeff Matz, and this dude that looked like teen wolfs dad crossed with david the gnome if he was a professor...kinda blew my mind a little bit.

my only regret is i skipped harvey milk for pig destroyer which was a BIG mistake as i thought PD sucked a fat one... maybe just not the right venue to see them for the first time though.

Just the wrong show for Pig Destroyer. Seen them kill it live other places, Scion was a bad example of them. Gonna be some good shit on scion this year.

None of the bands that played last year are allowed to play again next time. Or at least thats whats supposed to happen.

In a way, that is too bad, because last year was just an outstanding lineup. I really hope that this happens.

They should let Withered play again if its going to be in Atlanta, represent the home town scene!

if that actually happens and no one from last year returns i have a bad feeling that the next line up will contain much more "core" shit

I'm fairly sure it's the same one guy who will be selecting the bands again this year, so it's probably safe to say that bands like Unearth and Whitechapel will remain off the bill, and Scion will continue to be one of the few shit-free (or almost shit-free) metal events on the planet.
