Never heard CIV, and I don't know Civ, so no opinion on either. Dave knows him for some reason though... I can't remember why. I think they tattooed each other or something.badcarburetor wrote:Start Today!
What did you think of Civ? Obviously, it was way poppy, but I really liked the first album. Hooky and catchy as all (sober) hell. The second album was an abomination.

Civ sang for GB and then in the mid-90s had an eponymous mainstream band that aimed for commercial success, but pretty much alienated everyone. I still love that first album, but I know that I'm pretty much alone on that one.
Civ owns a tattoo studio called Lotus Tattoo out on the boonies of Long Island, NY. Joe Capobianco worked there for years and is a good buddy of Dave and the GCF guys. Occasionally, Joe come will come guest at GCF. He has a unique style that is very impressive to some people, but just not my thing. He calls it "Female Fantasy Art." I once made a trip up there with a friend of a friend so that she could get a horrifically (unintentionally) homoerotic "skinbyrd" tattoo. Shudder...

Get Age of Quarrel and play it non-stop for the next 25 years. It never gets old.
Best show I've been to in ages. I'm surprised Vinyl was cool with the literal hundreds of stagedives that went down. That was rad. Grey haired motherfuckers all over the place diving and slamming their brains out and all done with style. There was no skipping to be seen. Total timewarp.
