That about sums it up.....theRothstanator wrote:I cannot even begin to explain how hard Ihsahn ruled.
This was the first year in a few years where I actually watched most of the bands and was definitely surprised. Even though Therion didn't play any of their death metal stuff they tied Ihsahn, which is not an easy feat to do.

VERY hard act to follow, but I'll give it to Therion out of sponsor loyalty.

One of the high points of the whole fest for me was talking to Ihsahn out in the lobby on Saturday night. We had heard he had to leave to fly back to Norway during Saturday....but lo! There he was, just hanging out and shooting the shit with fans. Even Glenn H. was unsure beforehand how much Ihsahn was going to be "out in the crowd" (the guys in his backing band Leprous, not so much; they're as friendly and approachable as you'd want) and he pre-scheduled Ihsahn's autographing session...but it looked like Ihsahn was happy to be mixing and chatting.
The fact that he gave us not one, but two, Emperor songs was cool, too. His most recent solo setlists across the Pond didn't include any Emperor, and from reading the interview in the PP program book, it's clear that he's basically "over" Emperor. And yet.....
