This show was pretty damn fun.

Keep of Kalessin was tight, would've loved to see another guitarist up there for some of those parts. Matt will disagree but I loved this set.

Eluviete is a personal favorite so I'm a sucker for them. Band is very refreshing to me. Plus Meri is quite fine.

Hadnt seen Dying Fetus in a feww years nor listened to them really, so it was refreshing to see them come out tight and brutal as hell. More relevant than ever it seems.

Kataklysm's setlist blew huge and mighty chunks. When did Maurizo become Phil Anselmo jr? These kind of antics are an instant turn-off for me..

Hail to Tommy, and I think ScreamBloodyGore I also talked with,Kfoll & some lady in a hot dress, hail to Matt420 and Rob the Slob & Tracey

Keep played Many Are We, so that automatically made the night ten times better than it would've been otherwise. They were damn good too.

Really don't know what I can say about Eluveitie, mostly because I didn't know what to expect. Let's just say that I wasn't let down in the very least.

First time I've seen Dying Fetus. God damn, they had a good set. So good that motivated me enough to get into the pit, which I haven't done in a long, long time.

I don't have anything to compare Kataklysm to, and I only have Shadows & Dust and Prevail, but I thought they had a decent set. Didn't disappoint at all, though nothing too memorable. All in all it was a great show.

See you jerks again at either Mastodon or Opeth.

Keep of Kalessin:

Ok so some people started to show up and there was a good 4 rows and a pit. I know they played Ascendant, A New Empire's Birth, and I think one more from the new one and 2 old songs. Not sure though. Anyways, they were pretty good. The drummer is really good. I was watching him most of the time lol. The singer sounds good live but it's more of a a deeper, death metal scream live than a black metal scream at some parts to be honest. Anyways, overall they were a good opening band and one girl kept screaming at the top of her lungs so I know she was a fan haha. A pit also broke out for the last song.

7/10

Eluveitie:
Ok so this was the 2nd time I saw them and my friend's first time. He was really excited. Anyways, the bagpipe player didn't get into the country so they lacked in that area. The first time I saw them at Paganfest they were amazing. I loved them. This time I was REALLY disappointed. They were doing the sound check and I just knew it was gonna be wrong. The guitars overpowered everything. The only thing you could hear the entire set was the guitars and some of the drums. I couldn't hear Chringel, the violin, the flute, the hurdy gurdy, or anything. The sound was HORRIBLE. And to top it off, I heard they were playing nothing from Spirit. And I was right. This is the setlist (99% sure):

Bloodstained Ground
Primordial Breath (maybe, but it might not have been played...can't remember)
Gray Sublime Archeon
Tarvos
The Somber Lay
Inis Mona

Anyways, I hope the next time they come back they get the sound right because it sucked.

Pictures: I got 2 but they're not sending to my e-mail for some reason.

4/10

Dying Fetus: Me and my friends watched 3 songs and Chringel was right behind us drinking a beer. We were gonna try to take a picture with him but we all had crappy cell phones and it was way too dark. Anways the pit was going really good but we aren't' fans so we went downstairs.

Kataklysm: Ok so a lot of people left after Dying Fetus for some reason. I know a lot of people don't like them but I swear on my life they are a LOT better live than on album. So they started with Prevail and then I think Like Angels Weeping the Dark......they had a lot of energy and the people in the front were going crazy. More people showed up towards the middle of the set and an ok pit got started. They played As I Slither, Let them Burn, Crippled and Broken (way better live), Taking the World By Storm, Chains of Power, and Illumaniti. All the songs were pretty awesome. Maurizio was spot on and you could hear him and the guitars very good. The sound was great. And of course the drums were amazing, Northern Hyperblast and all. Haha.

Ok so I have been in about 2 pits my entire life. I'm small and scrawny and I will admit I am a pussy. But the only pits I've ever been in have been for like 5-10 seconds top then I get the hell out. Well me and my friend decided we just had to mosh for In Shadows and Dust since it's just too epic of a song not to. So I poked my friend on the shoulder and we both get ready. IN SHADOWS AND DUUUST!!!!!!!

We both run in and I almost fell twice......the first time someone caught me and the next time I grabbed someone's shirt. I ran into my friend and my shoe almost fell off. I was scared but it was fun as HELL. I am definitely gonna be moshing more in the future. What a great song to mosh to for the first time. Haha

Awesome night. Kataklysm was amazing and I'm so glad my friend got to go and we had a great time.

If this is what Kataklysm is nowadays, I feel sorry for yall that didnt get to see them when they were worth a fuck

edit - not trying to down on your experience or anything, it just seems like Kataklysm-lite to this long time Kataklysm fan.

I thought Eluvitiete was tighter at Paganfest, the sound was fine to me right up front. I attribute the lack of tightness to having 3 new members join 3-4 weeks previous but it didnt take away from my enjoyment of their set. This band kicks ass and is most refreshing.

Kataklysm is rad to people that take the phrase "Italian Stallion" seriously.

Yeah I know Kataklysm used to be more brutal.......I like brutal stuff but I tried their first few albums and I can't stand their old singer....and the music was just not for me.

I know they toned down their sound now but I like it a lot better.
