First, I agree very much with Blaze and Kelly. The scene is what you make it so write good music, support good bands, and tell your friends.

I played over an hour of local metal last week on my show. Sure it's not all from a unified scene, but many of it was. Athens has a metal scene believe it or not. We're having a metalfest in late August and the Knife Trade will be playing a reunion show on Aug. 1st that is sure to pack Tasty World.

Stop worrying about what we don't have and enjoy what we do have.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

I.personally.think.atlanta.laks.quality.bands...but.people.dont.understand.that.part.of.metal.is.a.something.more.than.playing.shows.where.bands.want.to.be.treated.like.rokstars....

bands.need.to.play.small.shitty.venues.and.mosh.stagedive.and.go.insane.for.all.of.their.favorite.and.nonfavorite.bands....stop.being.so.uptight.and.remember.you.dont.deserve.shit.unless.you.earn.it.

Harvey Milk is from Athens too. I'm not aware of any Macon metal.

ask and you shall receive...

Aug 24th at Sidelines Rocks Live! (formerly The Darkside) the following metal bands will be on stage and in your face...
  • Dead Rites
    Halcyon Way
    Theocracy
    Shockplate
This venue is located about a half-mile east of the Big Chicken on Roswell Road in Marietta. And if that isn't metro-area enough for you, I don't know what is. Because at least at Sidelines you don't have to worry about some vagrant hassling you for money to 'watch' your car... *cough*Masquerade*cough*

Now, everyone come out to this show and support some metal bands. Let's make a difference instead of wasting valuable time and space arguing over what's 'gay' and what's not in the Atlanta metal scene.

And if you think none of these bands listed are 'metal' enough, then go find some bands you prefer to listen to and support them. Stop arguing over what's 'true metal'. Make a scene and support it! It's what I've been building on for almost a year now. And I'm finally to the point where I have access to a good venue who wants me to bring great metal shows to them. It took a lot of work, stress, money, and determination on my part. But I made it happen. I saw a flaw in the scene and I worked to make a difference.

Sit there in your dorm room or your parents' basement and call me 'gay'. I don't care. I'm an adult. I have a job. I pay bills. And I support the Atlanta Metal Scene by promoting it - not complaining about it!

I'll see you on Aug 24th at Sidelines, or I'll see you in hell. Your choice.

Sidelines is 18+ because of their Smoking Ordinance.

Unfortunately that is the best I can do, since the Masquerade won't give me the time of day. And every other all ages venue is over-ran with screemo/emo kids.
