Marduk was fucking amazing. All I have to say about their set is Baptism By Fire! Merrimack was great and I totally want to hear more from them. Mantic Ritual was alright but it sucks about what happened to their set. Winds of Malice did a good set and they are a bunch of nice guys.

My favorite part of the night was Nachtmystium. Not because of their set but because of the fact that I was behind a guy who was thrown out. Two security guys were talking to a group of guys and they told them to come with the security. Then they came back except for one guy and apparently he was screaming at Nachtmystium that they were not tr00 and that they sucked. Then Blake Judd told the Masquerade that they refuse to play unless they throw him out. Hahahah, what a whiny little bitch.

Nope - big heavy white dude with reddish brown hair and a matching goatee. He kept yelling hilarious shit all night, and he has been blessed with a clear, loud voice. Apparently Nachtmystium didn't take too kindly to him yelling out "YOU'RE NOT A REAL BAND. YOU'RE SCAM ARTISTS" during their sound check. Fucking hysterical. Next thing we knew Nachtmystium left the stage and our man-on-the-street Gene Rubin filled us in on the rest.

Mitch, Mike, and I came to the conclusion that Nachtmystium is the most black metal band around.

You know how when Assassins came out they were all "eh black metal is lame, we don't like that anymore."

They're so black metal that they just said "FUCK BLACK METAL."

what's more black metal than that?

This was hands down my favorite show of this year. I've waited forever to see Marduk. There are dozens of other songs I wanted hear, but there was no disappointment. I'm so glad they finally made it back.

Everything started earlier than I thought it was going to, so I missed Winds of Malice and was surprised to see Merrimack on so early. I was hoping way more people would be around when they played. And good call on MDF, Amanda. Manitc Ritual's Deep Purple cover ruled and I was pleased to hear at least something Instinct: Decay-ish from Nachtmystium. I can't add to anything that's already been said about Nachtmystium, but I was taken aback when later at the Clermont, Blake remembered me from the last couple of times they were in Atlanta (like three years ago) and was very cordial and personable. Not quite sure what to think of the paradox with the massive reputation they seem to have with the sort of stunts like the one earlier in the evening.

And I have to agree, that was the gnarliest I've ever seen a Masq bathroom. At one point in the evening, I bore witness to one of Atlanta's finest dragging some kid from the pisser next to mine while explaining to him how much he was going to love his new home at the Fulton County Jail.

Cheers to you true maniacs for coming out again and to Marduk for starting my Thanksgiving weekend out right.

Only managed to catch Nachtmystium and Marduk, but really enjoyed both sets.
--Getting my car broken into outside during the show.....not so much. At least two other cars belonging to concertgoers were also broken into and shit was taken.

I was wondering why, later in the evening, this guy toward the back of the venue had....something whitish.....stuck in his nose. Now I know.

Good to see quite a few of you there, too....including, at one time, four (4) WREKage hosts or former hosts in one place (me, Brian, Mitch, Mike), plus one more at the show (DeathgasmEvan), one more who left early to go see Skinny Puppy (Tim) and one occasional host (Steve Cannon).

In fact, it was an embarrassment, considering who Morgan is and what he has done. There were 300 or 350 there at the end of the night?

I wonder if part of the problem is their inability to tour here over the past eight years. I have to believe that their aspiration of being "the most blasphemous band in the world" caused them troubles with ICE during that last administration. Hopefully, they'll be coming back more regularly.

I completely forgot about the Deep Purple cover. I first heard Metal Church's cover of that song -- it brought back memories.

I thought Mantic Ritual did a good job, considering that they were down a guy. Was it just me, or did they have an early Slayer vibe, ala "Show No Mercy"?

I've seen Nachtmystium once before and I actually left during their set, in part because it was 3:00 a.m. and I had an hour and a half drive ahead of me. They seemed much more serious and grim this time around. The last time that I saw them they were touring with WITTR, and Blake greeted the crowd with a gleeful "Are you guys getting fucked up tonight?" I have to believe the attitude change had to do with the headliner.

It was a good show -- I would rank with the Watain show from last year. Plus, I got to meet Diana and VGER, a guy I've been chatting with on another forum for four or five years.

Please tell me you weren't parked in the lot. I left my iphone in the console like a dumbass and spent the whole show sweating about it. Seems I had reason to worry. What did they take?

man that fuckin sucks. Mine's never been broken into at The Masq but I guess my time is coming. :?

Even though I was there, I didn't realize how out of control this show was hahaha! I was on the floor the whole time so that's why I guess...most of the action was elsewhere.

Yeah, I really hope Merrimack seriously considers playing MDF!
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

I was one of the 4 guys the security talked to. I was really fucking pissed that there was a chance I would get thrown out for doing nothing, and the guy in question would get away with his shit, but it was resolved. Nachtmystium was the best band of the night. I thought Merrimack was good, but was angry that a mosh pit started, you don't start mosh pits at a black metal show! Marduk were great as well, but I was hoping for more than 2 from Rom 5 12. The worst part of the evening, other than getting confronted by security, was seeing all the damn Suicide Silence fans outside the Masq while waiting to get in.
