Never heard of 'em. But all the name makes me think about is an even more fat version of the dude from Goonies.

I last saw Superchunk back in January '92 up in Ann Arbor, opening for Helmet. It was a super-tough crowd, because everyone was there to see Helmet and didn't give Superchunk much of a chance. I was there to see Helmet and didn't give them much of a chance.

But Meantime hadn't come out yet and Helmet freakin' rocked. They had come through about a year before, supporting Melvins, a show which I still regret missing. Anyway, Helmet played "Oven" when I saw them on that next tour, which was a nice surprise.

I haven't checked out Superchunk since.

9/14 @ Lakewood Amphitheatre-Kid Rock w/ZZ Top
All tickets are $29 with convenience fees...would be worth it to see ZZ Top and leave but unfortunately I will be in Santa Cruz that day for my cousin's wedding.

Anyone else into them?
I saw them in the early 90s in Austin, and I remember fIREHOSE did a great cover of "Slack Motherfucker." I think the bass player left because of health issues, but that's all I know.

My ole lady went with a few of her lady friends. I like to laugh at them for being gothie chicks in their younger days, because I'm an asshole.

Australia's Cosmic Psychos are performing Thursday @ The EARL w/ HAWKS.

They're an Amrep band from late 80's. Highly influential on grunge/noise rock, etc. Rare chance.

We're showing their documentary, "Blokes You Can Trust," to kick off the show.

It's gonna be rad! Doors @ 8:30. Film @ 9:00

I just heard about this. I really hope to make it. Is it going to be: movie, Hawks, CPs or a different order? Thanks!

From Creative Loafing:
CL Recommends
Mudhoney, Cheap Time
Wed., Oct. 2, 8:30 p.m.
Rock/Pop

As one of the few remaining greats of the late ’80s and early ’90s grunge heyday, Seattle quartet Mudhoney continues its 25-year run of distortion and noise-addled grooves. Vanishing Point, the band’s ninth LP, is a cantankerous missive that cements Mudhoney’s place as a relevant and vital entity that has survived the tides and the trends. The band brings its raucous take on wide-eyed and Stooges-style rock ‘n’ roll to Atlanta on Wed., Oct. 2. $17-$20

I love those first couple of Mudhoney records. I discovered them in late '88 or early '89, when a friend loaned Superfuzz Bigmuff to me.

Their middle output is sort of meh, and I stopped paying attention to them a long time ago. But those first couple of records are fantastic garage rock.
