Proving once again that, yes, the old adage is true. Tom Waits for no-one.

So what did you think?
I was blown away by the look of the stage and the light show was amazing. Tom waits really performs, he was really into it he put on the best show of any songwriter ive seen. But I do have to mention he didnt play enough of his freaky/sea shanty tunes and that guitarist really detracted from the songs with those crappy blues solos all over the place.

Yeah, man I'm really glad I was able to go. "Day after Tomorrow" for the 2nd encore was absolutley awesome. I was suprised with the amount of songs from the "Real Gone" album, but I like that one so it was ok with me. However, on a couple of songs (Trampled Rose and Don't Go Into That Barn) he changed some of the higer vocal parts which I didn't care for too much. Theres a large chunk of his discography that i'm not familar with so I'm not sure how some of the songs were true to their original renditions. A few songs I didn't recognize until about 2 verses in, but they were all done well I thought.

It was a really great show, though. I've heard several people complain about the guitarist haha. I thought he was ok, although he was way bluesy. I was in the balcony section that was on the side of hte stage, so I didn't really get to fully appreciate the lights, but it was a good seat (epsecially since I got it the day before the show). I could see behind the curtain a little bit and there was so much stage area that wasn't being used.

That photo is AWESOME!!!!!
Your lucky to have sat in the balcony I went up there before the show started to see the view and it was great, I was right next to the stage on the left really close and could see everything. I cant imagine what it must feel like to be playing on that stage for everyone....
I dont know all of his material by heart as well but I know that he does change things up a bit live, I mean hes got a different line up all the time like that guitarist and his son on drums. The encores were awesome.

I was feeling pretty buzzed by the time the show started so it was nice to be able to sit down. However once it got going I preferred to stand up. I was the last person in the row so I could stand and not feel like a dick.

How early did you get to the tabernacle? The Will-call only situation was strange, but wasn't near as fucked up as I was imagining.

I got there around 630 and for some reason me and my friends decided to go straight up to the window and pick up our tickets like vip or something? No one said a thing......probably.

Ive only been to the tabernacle one other time and I dont remember the drinks being so ridiculously priced, man I really wanted to keep drinking but oh well.

And oh yeah about standing up and being a dick thats funny cause around 830pm right before the show I knew I had to piss and would lose my spot but I went and then I decided that I paid $75 for this ticket and probably will never see Tom waits again so I just forced my way back to my original spot pissing off lots of people but oh well. I must have been right behind the camera man in the photo you posted, thats worth a few spilt drinks.
