BUCKETHEAD at the variety playhouse

Post by slut rag » Wed September 27th, 2006, 10:14 pm

BUCKETHEAD
with special guest
That 1 Guy

Mon, Oct 9, 8pm
$15 adv/ $17.50 day of show

Buckethead is one of the most bizarre and enigmatic figures in American underground and experimental music since Parliament-Funkadelic birthed their bevy of cosmic characters in the mid-'70s. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist best known for his virtuosic command of the electric guitar, Buckethead is one of the instrument's most recognizable contemporary innovators, his rapid-fire riffing, near-robotic fretwork, and idiosyncratic lead lines combining elements of Yngwie Malmsteen, Adrian Belew, Slayer's Kerry King, P-Funk's Eddie Hazel, and avant-improv artist John Zorn's Scud-attack sax abuse.

I saw him there last March, and before that in October. He plays the VP a lot. Both times I saw him he was awesome. Buckethead's pretty much unlike anyone else.

If you Digital Cable, there is a Buckethead Guitar demonstration available through "On Demand."

Fucking mind-blowing...

yeah, i saw this on comcast on demand......this is what got me into buckethead....before then, i thought he just played with guns'n'roses as an imitation slash (with the bucket on his head, i had figured axl put a guitarist in that outfit to maybe make fun of slash)

I had fun. I wish he had used the live band throughout the whole show though.
