Cynic
Can anyone give me a little insight on the prog band CYNIC? Also how a show with them might do attendance-wise. It would likely fall in the same week of May as both the Kreator and Nightwish shows. Thanks

If it's on the Friday or Saturday the week of the Kreator show I think it'd be a good turnout. Alot of old schoolers like myself would come out. Shit...if Cynic was part of the Athiest,Gnostic, The Faceless show it'd be packed man. thanks for booking alot of these badass metal tours lately man.

Well I'm not really sure what you mean by insight on Cynic, so I'll just give you a little bit of a background on them.
They released one album back in the early 90s and then broke up. That album has gone on to be one of the most influential and most well-known albums in metal and is one of the few that both death metal fans and prog metal nerds can get into. They got back together a few years ago and released their comeback album last year. It was ranked pretty highly on just about all of the metal review sites and things like that.
I think they'd draw pretty well. The death metal people would come out. Prog metal fans would come out. Even some prog-rockers would come out for this one. You'd have old school fans and some younger people too. I think Cynic by themselves could draw a pretty decent crowd. I have no idea who they would be touring with but if it's like a lot of tours lately (like that Testament tour) it'll be a band from a completely different genre who would draw a completely different audience, which would help with sales.

No sweat, man. I take them as they come. Worry sometimes about a glut of really good shows. But, gotta keep the metal flowing in all of its forms and flavors...Acidic Consumption wrote:If it's on the Friday or Saturday the week of the Kreator show I think it'd be a good turnout. I know of several people (myself included) that have been making noises about seeing Cynic in Asheville on the current tour. It's a given that most of us would rather see it locally...even with Dragonforce. I've got my fingers crossed for the rumored and seemingly unlikely Cynic/Possessed Euro tour expanding to the US later this year. I don't think Cynic in Atlanta would disappoint at all.
