The Fucking Champs next Monday!

Post by ratanda » Fri April 15th, 2005, 2:35 pm

Hell yeah! I missed them the last time they came, which was in 2002 I think. If you've never heard of them they're an instrumental trio with 2 guitarists (doing lots of very cool harmonies) and no bassist. They use 9 string guitars, but I don't remember if they use them on every song or just some songs. The bottom (or maybe it was top) 3 strings are doubled like on a 12-string.

I liked Blame Game when we saw them, too.

Yeah, Blame Game is pretty rockin'. Alex is a great fucking drummer. I thoroughly enjoy watching these dudes.

Also, Josh from the fucking champs is responsible for one of the greatest american black metal albums/projects ever. If you're not familiar with WEAKLING (released on TUMULT records), holy shit you need to be, and right now!! One of the most amazing CDs I own and a big influence for withered's music. It's 7 or 8 tunes and runs like 76 minutes long. a couple of tunes run 20+ minutes and are just breath taking. I'd go to this show just to shake his hand.

The Fucking Champs put on a really good show as usual, though there one or 2 songs I would have liked to hear that they didn't play.

The Blame Game were pretty good too. I didn't care for the other band, Parchman Farm.
