Swayzes would be cool but the PA is garbage.

Each of these places have different vibes and atmospheres.. personally I'd rather see a show at the Somber Reptile or Swayze's just due to the size of the venues. The Drunken Unicorn seems to be the best sound I've heard at any of the clubs though, killer vibe at that place too.. Masq. is just like the castle of Atlanta. A classic place to go, but with qualifications! The AC needs to be on, or at least some form of ventilation and it's best when all the area's are accessible. I've seen memorable shows at most of the places though.. Monstrosity at Somber Reptile, being introduced to Arsis at Swayze's, Weedeater/Withered at the Unicorn, High on Fire at the EARL the list goes on. Good times all over!

Under the Couch? Talk about a joke of a venue.

I love UTC. Masq is not a place for local bands to play and I wish more shows would go to swayzes instead. Most of the real metal shows at the masq could have been at Swayzes. But I picked the Drunken Unicorn.

Um, had you gone to any shows there before 2002?
It was easily the best venue in Atlanta.

utc had a good soundboard for being such a small cozy venue. I remember when i was going there alot 1998 - 2000 that they had couches (alot) for tired decrepit crippled bones that I own

I don't see why people hate the Masq. , that place has so much character. The sound's not always the best and it could stand to be twenty degrees cooler at any given moment, but when they have all the areas opened up for in between set wandering, it's excellent.

under the couch was awesome...i stopped going to shows there around 2001 though...ive hated the masq for many reasons...shitty sound...being treated shitty by the employees(whether it be security or others)...and ive been fucked by their management before(it happens everywhere though)...i just havent had enough good experiences with the masq to like it...ive had nothing but great experiences at under the couch and the drunken unicorn, even better ones when it was still the mjq concourse(when the bar was adjoined and there were more seats), the only venue ive ever liked more than the drunken unicorn was the echo lounge
