OCT 21 - Blackest of the Black tour...MISFITS SET (W/Doyle)
So, apparently Doyle will be joining Danzig on the upcoming tour and they'll be doing a 30 minute set of Misfits covers. I saw the first show they did together last year and it was more like 15 minues..but hopefully they've added a few songs to the set. I'm a huge Misfits fan, so I was almost in tears the whole 15 minutes.
It's October 21st at Earthlink Live. Tickets go onsale tomorrow at noon. This WILL sell out, so get them early!!

What metalcore crowd?DeathfareDevil wrote:holly wrote:Why?DeathfareDevil wrote:Poor Mortiis.
How long do you think he'll last with this crowd?
And I hope, nay, predict, that Behemoth blows the arse outta the metalcore crowd.
I hope that wasn't a reference to Chimaira, because I take offense to that.
Hahaha.
tell me that was sarcasm holly.holly wrote:What metalcore crowd?DeathfareDevil wrote:holly wrote:Why?DeathfareDevil wrote:Poor Mortiis.

Danzig always goes out with weird lineups. I think Kataklysm was on the bill last time he was here with some other shitty bands who had fuck-all to do with death metal.
The first Blackest of the Black tour had this lineup - Danzig, Nile, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Behemoth, and Lacuna Coil. How's that for a mixed bag of bands?

I meant because I'm into a fair amount of metalcore and Chimaira is like the shittiest band in existance.BlazeTSU wrote:tell me that was sarcasm holly.holly wrote:What metalcore crowd?DeathfareDevil wrote:holly wrote:Why?DeathfareDevil wrote:Poor Mortiis.

As far as I'm concerned, Chimaira may as well be a nu-metal band, and I'd never lump them in with a band like Himsa (who I don't particularly like, but respect).DeathfareDevil wrote:Chimaira is on the heavy side, but I consider them metalcore. As well as Himsa -- or are they just mascara-core?
Whatever the case, Mortiis doesn't fit in. Behemoth really doesn't either. This is one weird-ass line-up.
& also, from what I've been told, Danzig generall puts weird tours together.
I could care less how the crowd reacts - I GET TO SEE DANZIG AND BEHEMOTH!

For the record, I doubt I have the slightest idea what metalcore even is. Where punk, hardcore, emo, and all related genres are concerned, I'm pretty much fuzzy once you get past, say, the early Nineties. I like some of the stuff I hear during your (Holly) WREKage sets, but for some reason a lot of the vocals grate on me (even though I'm a fan of nearly all black metal -- how ironic). I bought a Converge cd once, Jane Doe, and while the music was great, the guy's voice was a bit too ... eh ... feline? for me. Not sure why I would differentiate between that style and something like Kult of Azazel, but there you go. Where newer "'core" is concerned, whatever the subgenre, the only bands I've so far gotten into are Artimus Pyle, Kylesa, and Krigshot. Every once in a while I'll pick up an issue of Maximum Rock & Roll and feel totally overwhelmed -- there's too much music out there!
What was the point of this?
Oh, the Blackest of the Black thing.
Yeah, I wanna see Behemoth too. Badly.

Jane Doe is seriously my favourite album of all time.DeathfareDevil wrote:For the record, I doubt I have the slightest idea what metalcore even is. & yeah, Jake's voice has many times been called "feline" or "feral."
They're really hard to take at first; you really have to listen actively and just let it win you over.
I think his vocals are the most raw and gutteral sounding, production-wise.
You might want to check out the album after it, You Fail Me.
My husband despises Converge, but told me that he didn't mind the vocals on that one.
In any event, do yourself a favor and go see them in November.

Pretty much verbatim, that's what I tell my non-metal-listening friends (ie: all of them) in my futile attempts to get them into heavy stuff. I need to remember to take my own advice, heh.
