Arrived way late, but still before the first act.

Second time seeing Paradox. I personallly wasn't in the mood for their brand of music last night, but I can see how I would really dig their old-school hardcore (and by that I mean Black Flag and Minor Threat) inspired music, given a different mindset.

Disfigurement slayed as usual, but with a new guy on drums. The vibe between band and audience seemed a little off to me, as it was kind of a quiet crowd overall, all night. Monday nights, I guess.

Mangled's first show in Atlanta for the year, I believe. Always fun to watch.

Obliteration played "Goat Skull Crown" first and I could have left after that, satsified. There is a riff in that song, that I think they may have pinched from somewhere, that has been stuck in my head since I first heard the new record. They came off with less of an early-Melvins influence live. I clearly hear it on the new record, but it wasn't as obvious in a live setting. I got distracted by the two guitar players, a little bit. The lead guitar player had the sleeves of his leather coat shoved up and, for some reason, I kept thinking about Helloween. Loose association, I guess. I loved their first record and then discovered that they are, in fact, cheese balls when they released Keeper of the Seven Keys. As for the lead singer and rhythm guitar player, he is a prototypical Norseman. I couldn't stop thinking that, 1000 years ago, his ancestors were climbing into wooden ships with the intent of sailing across the sea and kicking ass. He is doing his ancestors proud.

Does anyone know if the drunk guy ever woke up and went home? How does someone sleep through a freakin' metal show?!

Man. 6:00 a.m. came early. It appears that some of you maniacs were still up, having fun.
