Mentors - July 15???

Post by GFx » Mon April 21st, 2014, 2:32 pm

I have no clout or booking ability in Atlanta, but the Mentors are looking for an Atlanta date on July 15th. My band would be more than willing to open 8)

From management:

I have the legendary Metal/Punk band "The Mentors" out on Tour!!
We are looking to book the date of July 15th 2014 in Atlanta
I have listed links for The Mentors below.
Please let me know if your interested in this package. Thanks Keith

THE MENTORS

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. The Mentors tale of perseverance is just as inspiring as their music. The all-American anthemic porno rock band has persevered through the death of their singer "El Duce", emerging a stronger unit than ever before. Coming back with their first consecutive album with a singer, vocalist/Drummer Mad Dog, The Mentors continue to survive. After their biggest single ever, "Black Snatch" and nonstop touring, the California trio are set to take over the world. The album is a statement on various levels. It's a statement that The Mentors can write anythingâ€â€￾from fist-pumping arena porn rock songs such as "Bombs Over Frisco" and "Black Snatch" to the introspective haze of "Be A Pervert" and the pensive pain of "Bring on the Sluts." It's a statement that this band is airtight musically, with the combination of Mad Dog 's roar with his propulsive percussive palette, Sickie fret fireworks, and Dr Heathen Scum's thundering bass lines. It's a statement that The Mentors won't stop, Their 4 decade-long career after withstanding the tragic death of original vocalist Eldon "El Duce" Hoke" . Most importantly, it's a statement that The Mentors music will be here forever.

That's funny. I saw them with St. Vitus at the Metroplex in 1988. I guess Sickie Wifebeater is low on cash?

Its actually a good opportunity to see them with Sickie, he doesn't always tour with them. Hope someone with the means will pick this up, otherwise I'm gonna have to drive to another state.

Saw them at their "25th Anniversay" (or was it 20th?) with Sickie, Heathen, Moosedick, and Duce about 8 months before Duce got hit by that train.

The opening band's singer was stuck in Portland, so they blazed through a handful of songs instrumental, with Duce providing impromptu spoken word/'singing' sans hood for 3 or so songs.

This is one of those bands that I can't believe still functions with their most notable member long gone....

Supposedly this is going down at Drunken Unicorn and they are looking for local openers that can get a draw.

Paradox still together? Them and Sadistic Ritual seem like they might fit.

Why would anyone want to see this? Especially when they're looking for locals that 'draw'.

I'm in a minority when it comes to bands holding on to the past or just trying to cash in on the nostalgia fad. If a band member dies, move on.

Wednesday, July 16th
The Mentors
w/ American Lesion and Sleazoid Mafia
in Purgatory at The Masquerade

Those openers suck, I'm going to the Raleigh date but the Mentors are still worth seeing.
