Man, I went to buy tickets just now and GenAdmission is like $150? What the hell did y'all pay. This weird surge pricing TicketMaster is doing is a new level of hell from them on top of ridiculous fees.

I paid ~$75ish with fees but that's the balcony. It looks like the only available floor tickets are part of the artist packages, and not regular GA tickets.

Rather satisfying. Maybe not quite as awesome as the last King Diamond show at the Tabernacle, but a million times better than the last time I saw MF (autumn 1996).

Traffic was such a disaster that I missed 60% of the Kreator set, which sucked. However, I did get a pretty sweet balcony seat for the price of GA. So I had that going for me. Which was nice.

Mercyful Fate was great! Literally everything else leading up to, and the experience surrounding it, was trash.

Sounds like MF met or exceeded expectations, from what I've read.

what's included in the "experience surrounding it"?

- ticketing: trash
- parking: trash
- entry: seemed okay to me for a tabernacle-sized venue
- drinks: no experience
- merch: no experience. the line was pretty dumb tho, maybe that's a "trash"
- sound: sounded good from my vantage point
- 12+ attendees in various degrees of make-up, corpsepaint, etc: priceless...

I've seen a ton of really great sets this year between heck's heroes, mdf, mdmf... mercyful fate was easily among my favorite of 2022. just a really great performance and a fun time overall. I think it will be more memorable than either of the atlanta KD sets I saw in the past, but that's just because I like the MF material slightly more.

I walked in maybe 15 minutes into the kreator set (as planned), walked into the GA area, and almost immediately went out to go scope the merch/watch the set from the TV. went back up for the last two kreator songs which uncoincidentally were the only two tracks in their set which are any good. they actually sound pretty great when they play pleasure2kill etc. if they would just play that kind of stuff only maybe I would get excited to see them.

It's taken me a few days to even post about this, but I fucking missed the whole damn thing because I was writhing around on the floor with the flu hours before the show. Couldn't stand for more than a few minutes even. Saw em in Vegas in August (life changing set for me, seriously), but was highly, highly anticipating this show. I still can hardly fucking believe my luck.

Anyway, what I'm posting about though is that I saw King in some interview a few weeks ago talking about how they would be streaming every Mercyful Fate set live on Twitch for the entirety of the tour. I barely new what the fuck Twitch was before Wednesday, but it ended up being about as excellent of a consolation to not being able to be there as could possibly be. It was literally one person with a cell phone between the barrier and the stage. No board mix feed. Raw phone mic audio only. About as basic as could be, but it salvaged my nauseated fever induced karma crash. Obviously no substitute for being there, but managed to enjoy it. Exact same set as the Vegas show, but pretty excellent overall. Funny that King was flat on the exact same parts of Curse of the Pharaos. This Twitch shit even showed the "meet and greet" interviews/hangouts as everything was breaking down. Confirmed that a KD album was next in the works, but was pleased to hear him say that an even bigger Mercyful Fate tour is a go after that.

Fucking crazy evening. Missed so badly being there. Thanks internet.
