I always liked Sepultura's cover art by Michael Whelan, like ARISE and Chaos A.D. I also loved the cover to TOOL's "Undertow", Metallica "Kill em' All", Cannibal Corpse "Eaten Back to Life", Life of Agony's "River Runs Red" and Acid Bath's "When the Kitestring Pops" and "Paegan Terrorism Tactics" by Jack Kevorkian.

Oh yea, I like the cover of the X-Cops "You have the right to remain silent"
and the DBX had a cool cover, reminded me of the old movie Freeked.

I liked the fact that Whelan kinda sneakily allowed them to use more artwork than they wanted to pay for, by allowing them to triptych it. (That's probably NOT the right word, but I'm not an artist, either). Whelan cut Cirith Ungol a deal for their album artwork, too. I've got a LOT of Whelan's stuff hanging on my walls, or ready to be hung in the new house...if I ever get one.

I've always liked Travis Smith's cover art: http://www.seempieces.com. If we can have Alex Grey (Tool cover artist) at Dragon*Con, why not Travis? His credits are amazing: Lilitu, Riverside, Anti-Depressive Delivery, Sinai Beach, Anathema, For My Pain, Age Of Silence, Deadsoul Tribe, God Forbid, Subterranean Masquerade, Winds, Watch Them Die, Daylight Dies, Gordian Knot, Axenstar, Living Sacrifice, Beseech, Death Machine, Soilwork, Violent Messiahs, Skinlab.....

The guy stays busy. (!)

I think some of the coolest album covers have to be the re-releases at Sentinel steel Records of Manilla Road- Mystification, Attacker- The Battle at Helms Deep, and Burning Starr- no Turning Back
Check em out at www.sentinelsteel.com

Emperor- In The Nightside Eclipse

Dimmu Borgir- Godless Savage Garden (that's just fuckin' cool artwork!)

Maiden's shit was always the best. I had an entire wall of their posters in my bedroom when I was a kid. I think that the visual association of their imagery (branding) was a big part of their success...especially in the US. Nevermind that they're incredible musicians and (for a while) were great songwriters as well.

Puppets is a given. Along with the 3 Sep albums mentioned.

Obituary - Cause of Death
Fear Factory - Demanufacture
Meshuggah - Chaosphere and DEI
Napalm Death - Enemy of the Music Business
Testament - Low (same artist that did the Front Line Assembly albums)
and the Celtic Frost album with the Giger piece...the devil using Jebus as a slingshot.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!
