Talk about your catering to your target demographics.
I can't even listen to that Asphyx album without picturing the guy jumping off of that balcony and hitting the pavement right on that ride "ding."
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

Anyone ever see the Heavy Metal movies? I used to have the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack, I remember liking most of it, but I was still in high school.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

I've got the original movie on DVD -- it took many years for it to be issued in any form, due to tangled licensing issues -- and also the soundtrack. One of the all-time classics of animated cinema, with a mostly-great soundtrack.
I think I have the HM 2000 soundtrack, too, but I forget who's on it and I'm not sure I ever saw the movie.

Ahhhh, Heavy Metal, the staple of the old Midnight Movies. It was always between that, The Song Remains the Same, The Wall, and Rocky Horror. Smoke a doobie first, then go in and start throwin' popcorn around and try not to get thrown out....
I think the most poignant use of metal in movies was when they used that Iron Butterfly song in that first movie about Hannibal Lechter, Manhunt. Well, I consider that one of the first metal songs, even if most people dont' even think of them. I've seen a few movies like 8mm with Nicholas Cage that always use death metal in conjunction with a serial killer, so much that it has become cliche. Just once I'd like to see a serial killer listening to some gay-ass emo music with a music box and a bouquet of flowers on his dresser.

Haha, this reminds me of the ear-cutting scene in Reservoir Dogs, which was made all the more sadistic by having "Stuck In The Middle With You" playing while it was happening.

I was very surprised to hear Sepultura during Talladega Nights, about as surprised as when I saw Cannibal Corpse during Ace Ventura

Back to the topic at hand, I think my favorite uses of metal songs in the movies would be the first scene in the Jackass movie when Johnny Knoxville takes the rental car to the demo derby and they play Angel of Death.
Next would be the scene in Old School when they start hazing and drive around, picking people up in that badass black van with Master of Puppets playing. The song fit perfectly.

In the movie Airheads (used to play on VH1 a lot), there's a van with band stickers all over the walls in the back. At least several of them are death metal bands (I distinctly remember Obituary being one).

this isn't metal in a movie, but metal on tv........
there's a show on mtv called "two-a-days" and its about highschool football. they just showed the opening kickoff of a game and transitioned from some butch walker song into the breakdown in "dead embryonic cells"
