That's nice for a city of 25,000, but so what? Does it change the fact that the US leads the world in firearm killings? It has nothing to do with "responsible gun owners" versus "murderers" or "criminals", it's a matter of general stupidity. Look at the numbers. Americans are by and large, irresponsible, careless and wasteful people. If you believe otherwise, you're in denial.BlazeTSU wrote:i hate to beat a dead horse but if you'd actually like a few statistics about "common folk" averting crime with weapons why not google "kennesaw georgia crime rates" and do a little research.
I'm all for me/you doing/owning/using whatever we like up to the point where people start dying for stupid reasons. Not protection, not crime aversion, just "hey I have a gun I can kill you and so I did" stuff that goes on EVERY SINGLE DAY. You're giving the average American far too much credit in believing that he can responsibly own, operate and use an instrument of death.
- Murder rates in LA, NY and Chicago were approaching the highest in the world (30 per 100,000) until moves were made in late 20th century to restrict access to guns to teenagers. (The NRA wants these moves reversed)
What happened there?
Or you can look at it from this prospective and say kennesaw is a microcosm of what can happen.Holiday Rambler wrote:That's nice for a city of 25,000, but so what? You can. You can look at a small, close-knit, well-policed, well-educated, 80% white, suburban town with lots and lots of guns as being a "microcosm of what could happen", or you can look at the large and small, sprawling and remote, poorly-policed, uneducated, rural, suburban and urban areas who ALSO have lots and lots of guns and world-leading firearm death numbers as being what DOES happen. So, there's that.
So what your saying is that we should keep guns out of the hands of minorities.Holiday Rambler wrote:You can. I find this interesting
Kennesaw passed the law requiring the head of every household to have and maintain a fire arm and the crime rate drops.
Morton Grove, Illinois passes a law banning hand guns and crime rate goes up.
Read it for yourself.

You will find it rather hard to keep and to take guns out of anyone's hands. I have to say your going to have an even harder time trying to take mine away. I don't have a problem with people that don't want to own a hand gun, to each there own but want I don't want is to hear the whining when your not able to protect yourself.
here is a nice little quote
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country." --Adolf Hitler

Yeah I know, I just wanted to show one of the biggest proponent's of gun control was Hitler, and we all know what a great guy Hitler was.stalindrummer wrote:I know the point that your trying to make, but quoting Hitler might not be the best way to make it.
