It's no wonder why most of my friends are just normal people. I have few "metalhead" friends because frankly I just can't stand most of them.

Thanks. Everyone thinks it is a teardrop, but it's a spade, because it is symbolic of DEATH! Because, you know, I'm just THAT metal...

PS. You play a fretless? That is classy, dude. Nobody plays a fretless, especially in metal. Fretless bass is like silk. I fucking love it.

I play fretted and fretless with and/or w/o a pick, different situations call for a different approach. My main bass is a fretless tho.

Silk is about as Metal as a troll doll or slap bracelet. Save it for Victor Wooten.

More on topic, though, I'm experimenting with the reverse: I'm letting my hair grow and not practicing. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Fretless is classy as hell, it's almost like playing an actual classical instrument! *gasp*

Style points for that shit!

And long hair is a standard thing, and I personally think it looks cooler. Although it shouldn't really matter if you can play your instrument, especially when a lot of bands these days have short hair all around.

Kamal's right. I'll definitely be sure to check with him on all topics related to metal, and bass-playing for that matter...

I've been slacking pretty hard on my metal scene-points, lately. I need to be sure I'm following the rules to ensure the lack of any progress in the genre whatsoever.

Fuck it, I'm starting a Carcass cover band. Kamal can be the bassist - don't want to take any chances of unsettling the the paradigm.

No, Brett got beat up by the bassist from System of a Down. But I love Wu Tang a lot more than Mastodon, that would have made it better.

I think the biggest negative to a short haired metal dude is when somebody gets onstage with short hair and starts to do "Windmill" headbanging, like your supposed to pretend they have long hair?

Ive seen that in so many shitty metalcore opening acts it's retarded.

I think the best way to not have long hair in metal is to cut it pretty damn short or just kind of grow it long but put it in a small ponytail stub thing like the live bassist from Mutiilation
