Does anyone remember the title of the new song by 1349? I swear that it had the words "maggot" and "fetus" in it.

Salome was the best imo. I just love how she was screaming like she was possessed then when the song was over she says (in a petite, cute voice) "thanks guys." Haha. Wasn't expecting that.
I loved Wolves in the Throne Room but the guitars and vocals could of been louder. And the amp was clicking and popping the whole time so it was sort of disappointing but they were still amazing.
Suidakra also were good but the sound sucked since they were in Purgatory.
Pig Destroyer ruled and the pit was awesome. I came out with my shoes and pants covered in mud from falling so much.
Boris blew me away. I need to check them out since I only have one album so far.
Septic Flesh was pretty cool...I missed Converge to see Wolves though. I also missed 75% of Krallice since I lost one of my friends and was looking for him. Oh well.
I saw Neurosis but I was sitting kind of far away so I was barely listening to them...I need to get more of their albums because I barely recognized any of their songs.
Zoroaster was amazing but my friends were being lame and wanted to leave early so I left at 10:30. Overall, fucking awesome.

Someone with Scion caught wind of the demo they released on Vindland Winds years ago. I asked multiple Scion "officials" about why they weren't playing and found everyone pretty quiet about it.DeathfareDevil wrote:Did Nachtmystium not show, or were they so unremarkable that no one has mentioned them yet?
Yes, I believe it did and we were the first audience to hear it. I couldn't make out the third word in the title. I've seen 1349 twice before, but their set was what I was waiting for all day. Those fuckers and Týr made my day.Knucklehead wrote:Does anyone remember the title of the new song by 1349? I swear that it had the words "maggot" and "fetus" in it.

yeah I was very impressed too! My b/f got there at like 6:30 and walked right in. I'm pretty sure they did print those extra tickets from what that promotor told me. Who knows...all I know is that the show was packed! At one point, everyone who wanted to go back inside (around when WITTR played), the venue was at full capacity so we all had to wait outside in a line until the Converge crowd got out to go see Neurosis. There were torrents of people coming out of those stairs from Heaven to outside right when Converge ended.BlazeTSU wrote:DeathfareDevil wrote:I can't wait to hear how this all went down. I'm feeble in my old age and just don't have the will to make it through an all-day fest -- in the rain, to boot.
You bastards have fun, and let us shut-ins know what it was like. I want to hear of riots and pillaging!
no riots or pillaging or problems getting in. i think the "extra printed tickets" was nothing more than a rumor and propaganda to get people to show up. i got there at 1:15 and walked right in. some friends of mine showed up right before Neurosis played which was well after dark and had no trouble getting in.
there were tons of people there though.........and a large tent covering the outdoor stage. i was very impressed with the entire production of the event.
My b/f was involved with that whole affair...he wasn't the one who was fighting or punching but what he said was that 2 hardcore assholes came into the pit and started moshing hardcore style and that was when people were complaining about the moshing because it wasn't regular moshing, it was more violent. Those two guys were trying to start shit. Then I guess things got heated and one of the hardcore dudes punched some guy so my b/f grabbed the guy who threw the punch in a full-nelson so he wouldn't punch anyone else. Then that guy got thrown out.1349 would have been more enjoyable, but for the meatheads that were throwing punches in the pit. The guys directly in front of me were objecting pretty loudly to the moshing at a black metal show. One of the guys got thrown out. And then the other sucker punched one of the guys in front of me. He was not moshing -- he just squared up and punched him. Needless to say, that meathead got thrown out, too. If Todd had not insisted on staying, we would have missed the fun with 1349.
anyways, I had a ton of fun at this! I saw alot of you there

The bands I saw: Kylesa, Suidakra, Alestorm, Warbringer, High on Fire, Pig Destroyer, Tyr, Wolves, 1349, Septic Flesh, Cryptopsy, Toxic Halocaust
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Wouldn't suprise me if this was the case. Those guys bring so much shit with them when they play shows the stage they played on would have been two hours behind schedule after their set.Metalfreak wrote:Knucklehead wrote: Apocalyptic Visions didn't play, either. I really wanted to see HATE-FILLED CRICKETS!!!I heard that they didn't play cause they didn't want to use house equipment. I saw Sam there though.

From EarsplitPR concerning Nachymystium cancellation....
NACHTMYSTIUM Booted From The Scion Rock Fest Bill
In a statement made on Friday, February 27, 2009: "NACHTMYSTIUM has sad news today with a once-again recurring issue surfacing from the wake of our past. We've been forced, at the request of the promoters and the folks at Scion / Toyota, to pull out of the Scion Rock Fest, scheduled for Saturday, February 28. This news came to us just this past Tuesday and was very disheartening to say the least. A troubling, and unjustly-applied notion that we are, or ever have been, in any way, a 'Nazi' band or a political band on any level, is completely absurd and we are disgusted that there is someone out there who really believes we are of this ilk. It made it as far as the sponsors of this event's desks, and now we are forced to pull out of it after some political threatening on the part of these ridiculously uneducated person/people who have caused this ruckus.
"We'd like to make light of at least one aspect of this situation and use the opportunity to once again clear the air  we are, IN NO WAY, a 'Nazi' band. We do NOT support such groups, political beliefs or bands that are affiliated with that world. We have canceled tours in the past and dodged working with bands and people BECAUSE they had these ideologies and we never wanted to be affiliated with it. Yet, here we are, a metal band whose members are more like hippies than your typical leather-clad metal maniacs, and we're being falsely accused of this association once again. We will be taking legal action against the people who slandered us in this situation, and in the future will file defamation / slander charges against any person or organization who attempts to prevent us from performing anywhere, especially in the United States. We are as offended by this as someone might be at the notion of a Nazi band playing a big corporate-sponsored festival. So  let it be known loud and clear for the LAST TIME, we ARE NOT a Nazi band, ARE NOT political, are certainly NOT racists and DO NOT support that world or any band, person or business affiliated with it.

I had a great time and got to see a lot of friends I havent seen in a long time. I made a lot of metal kids mad during trash talk. I dont get why younger metal kids hate stage dives. Converge sounded good but I expected their set to be a little more out of hand.
Cryptopsy was ok, I was expecting it to be horrible so I guess I wasnt let down. Pig Destroyer was awful. When I think of bands like PD playing its I picture people going nuts, and it wasnt.

Krallice and Wolves in the Throne Room were highlights for me. 1349 was ok - but it was minus Frost, ridiculous corpse paint, sub-par-ish vocals, and just about 3 fist fights from drunk guys randomly hitting and shoving people within that teeny tiny space in Hell - so I saw about half of the show and the other half was spent trying to keep people wanting to pay attention to the show from getting hit. Cryptopsy - seeing Flo was absolutely great. I haven't been a Cryptopsy fan so I think I probably was able to enjoy it more than most that were. Mostly I just wanted to see Flo play so I was satisfied. Skeletonwitch had some really good parts. I somehow liked the Criminal Records show better from them. Saw Septic Flesh for half of a song and had enough - but they sounded somewhat tight - just not interested. Zoroaster was ok but the songs didn't feel like they were going anywhere and since you couldn't actually see them in the cloud of fog there wasn't much to take from it - but then again I didn't see a whole lot of it so maybe other parts were better. I'm not really sure how many of you I saw or met but I know I met a few of you. Which was cool. All in all it was an awesome festival and great seeing friends. I missed Boris - I left right after their little intro to go to Toxic Holocaust (which was ok, little repetitive - high energy at least) and then heard later that it was way better after that. Oh well. Hot dogs. That was ridiculous. $4. The pizza was way more worth the money but still...$4...killed some bills eats that day for sure. Whatever, I'm stopping here with it.

I didn't see any forum folks that I remember but I got to see a lot of friends. Gaylord was one of my favorites, Baroness ruled, Boris was surprisingly good and fun. Rwake was good but their sound sucked from where I was. I liked Cryptopsy mostly because they played Slit Your Guts and Phobophile at the end of the set. Mastodon was excellent.
I ended up staying with Rwake in Atlanta and left for Athens the next day trying to beat the snow before it got too shitty in Athens. Fucking stupid. I got in a four car pile up on 316 just a few miles outside of town. At least no one was hurt but I'm going to be poor and carless for a while.

Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.
