GRAVES...

ALSO: You cannot rock the "skeptical-of-newer-DM" caveat until you are at least 35.

Ha, i just really tend to like older stuff. I'm reeeeeeeeally picky about bands and death metal in particular... most of them just don't sound good to me and with most of new death metal being of the super tech, br00tal, or core variety it just turns me off to checking out newer dm bands even more.

Basically just give me some god damn morbid angel worship and i'm a happy camper and for fuck's sake give me some RIFFS!

I think most of that tech-y stuff sucks too, but there are plenty of quality DM bands these days. I'm pleased. If you like Dead Congregation I can give you some more recs if you're interested.

There's plenty of dirty DM out there these days that takes more from the Florida scene rather than Sveeeeeedun. A lot of it gets denigrated as some sort of "revival" bullshit, but to me it's just what DM should be. Simple...

And if you're on the fence about DC, Anastassis (vox, gtr) is not seen w/out wearing a Morbid Angel tee.

I've got a solid 8 hours of work/ipod time tomorrow so i'll be all over it. Most of those swedish bands just don't do it for me so florida style is def preferable.

Let me see what i think about it and i'll hit you up for more recs tomorrow.

Melodies are for posers man.

If you can headbang or mosh to the beat that means it is not fast enough nor is it technical enough. Everything must sound like recorded fart sounds to be death metal. If it doesn't sound like someone is shitting out their guts then it must not be real death metal.

yea i already listen to frightmare, blood freak, ghoul, splatterhouse, vacant coffin, etc. but most of the newer razorback bands just come off as cheap imitations of the good bands they had a few years ago though. i listen to a good bit of newer death metal i guess... but nothing that's come out in the last couple years... bloodbath's last album is probably the newest dm album i spin regularly... that and Cannabis Corpse.
