Ondskapt - Arisen From the Ashes (finally, an album I've been anticipating all year that is not a let down)

Great music! Reminds me of Candlemass and Forsaken. Vocals seem a bit weak to me. Something I can probably get used too!

Vocals are pretty casual. Sorta in Geddy Lee storyteller mode. Music is so fucking Dark Crystal I cannot resist.

Yet to crack this and had it forever. Draco Sit Mihi Dux is a strange and awesome kinda record. Reminded me of a disjointed DMDS with a more opium'd out Attila on vox. Operatic Sathanas Mode, bro.

Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Never gets old.

Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity
After close to 20 years I'm finally starting to dig this band in a big way.

The (International) Noise Conspiracy - Survival Sickness and Armed Love
Such totally great albums, musically unbeatable and lyrically inspiring (something I never say). I never get tired of this band.

Kvelertak - S/T
I think it was GameFreac who mentioned this band in relation to Black Anvil. Thanks, dude. I'm not feeling the BA, but this album is oddly great. It's a mix of a lot of u underground styles, some of which I am decidely not down with, but it all somehow to make a really compelling whole. I've played it about ten times in the last week and ordered the vinyl. Such good shit.

Yeah that was me...someone recommended them to me on another forum I go to and it's definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. Probably in the top 3 actually.

Glad you liked it.

Teitanblood - Black Putrescence of Evil
Teitanblood - Seven Chalices (this band reminds me of Inquisition if they were more of a Deicide's death metal.)
Deicide - Once Upon the Cross
Napalm Death - Diatribes
Napalm Death - Utopia Banished
Portal - Swarth
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Living Decay - Doomed to Last (hopefully for another ep)
N.M.E. - Unholy Death
Traumatic - The Morbid Act of a Sadistic Rape Incision
Interment - Into the Crypts of Blasphemy
Death Breath - Stinking up the Night (damn right I am)
Death Breath - Let It Stink (awesome title and CD cover haha)
Katalysator - Zombie Destruction
Angelcorpse - Exterminate
Wolfbrigade - Progression Regression
Bad Brains - I Against I
Anti Cimex - Raped Ass
Doom - Monarchy Zoo
Russian Circles - Enter (I guess this now means I'm hipster as fuck)
Neurosis - Neurosis and Jarboe
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker

It's been a while....

Sigh -Scorn Defeat
Sigh - Infidel Art
Judas Iscariot - Dethroned, Conquered, and Forgotten

I HIGHLY recommend Sigh for fans of old school black metal, haven't been this excited in a while about a black metal band. Right off the bat, the first track on Scorn is fucking epic.

Wait, really? I helped sneak her into Dragon*Con two years ago so she could attend one of the late-night concerts. (Cruxshadows and Faith & the Muse.) :)

I can't remember how I got into her music. I have been listening to a few of her songs before I ever heard of Neurosis. Her music is simple yet very powerful.

I see her out at shows quite a bit these days. Seems kind of aloof, but a rather interesting person. She has a massive catalog. Swans, her solo stuff, and countless colaborations and guest appearences with some pretty cool acts are all so different.

Jarboe rules. I dig Swans a lot. Was really close to doing a Sunday Special at WREK about her catalog, but all the timeslots were already taken for this semester.

I met her husband at the Overkill show. Nicest dude.
