Do it.
I've only seen Solaris so I can't say it looks like Tarkovsky. But the opening sequence is pure Bergman and I'm not into watching toddlers fall from buildings so it was pretty much over for me at that pt.

I haven't seen his first two features, but I would definintely recommend Ivan Rublev, Nostalghia and The Sacrifice.stewvee wrote:I've only seen Solaris so I can't say it looks like Tarkovsky. Nostalghia is probably the high point of his style. Tarkovsky was all about cinema as an experience of time and that definitely comes through in The Antichrist. The Sacrifice is all homage to Bergman: he even hired Sven Nykvist for that gig.
I'll check em out. I'm in total-euro-art-fag-movies-over-three-hours mode now.

Is this the flick with the Lord of the Rings dude? Any good? The trailer makes it look gay as hell. And then there's the CENTURION trailer on the right which makes me wonder when H'wood will tire of remaking GLADIATOR...

Yeah -- Sean Bean plays a part in it, but he isn't really the lead. It dovetailed nicely with those historicall fictions book I was reading.stewvee wrote:Is this the flick with the Lord of the Rings dude? Any good? The trailer makes it look gay as hell. And, it takes place in 1348. You know, one year before the Black Plague made it to Norway.
Thank you for recommending this. It's great. And it should be required viewing before home-schooling your children.spice wrote:Dogtooth. it's a greek film that is as odd as anything i have ever seen. it's streaming on netflix at the moment.
A word of warning: there are more graphic sex scenes than I normally like to have in a movie that I'm watching on my work PC. That didn't stop me, but you might want to choose your viewing location more wisely than I did. Maybe don't watch it while you're babysitting or Grandma's visiting or whatever.
