1-IT IS NOT EVER CLIMATE CONTROLLED FOR ANY SHOW, & I MEAN ANY SHOW!!! Either National or local acts, it doesn't matter!!! Whether it be Bloody Hot baking in sweat summer, or freezing your
ever lovin' nuts off in the cold winter!!! It's never EVER COMFORTABLE in that fucking place EVER!!! Even for natioinal bands!!! & I've been to enough shows there to even hear the National bands complain about it & they were paid to play there!!! Irony??
I've felt the AC on a few times, and it's not as hot as a basement show. So it could be worse.

Lastly, I'm mainly Irate & Bloody pissed that some of the absolute best
national bands that I love the most (Holy Grail, & LOVE Sadistic Ritual too!) keep playing @ The Masquerade!!!
Why?? Because we don't have any other cooler place than this rathole/shithole for them to play??
Dude, I've seen some great shows by national acts at The Drunken Unicorn and The Earl. Crowbar, Phobia, Eyehategod, Municipal Waste, Jesu, Destroyer 666, Angel Corpse, Watain, etc. Oh, and Cro Mags were great at The Vinyl.
Just my perspective.

3- The Masquerade IS NOT handicap accessible!! I've got some good friends, that are handicapped & need to use a wheelchair & they wanted to go see a good local Metal band there, & they just couldn't because of that very fact!!!
I saw a guy in a wheelchair get in the pulley that they load the gear up into so he just hovered to Heaven...lol
Yeah, I think I've seen that too. And for Hell shows I think I've seen the Hell door by the ticket booth used for that too.
Yeah I've seen both.
As for climate control, in the winter I've never really had much of a problem. I don't know if they actually have heat or not but there's always so much body heat anyways. As for the summer, it does get pretty hot in there but they do have the ac on full blast...I've walked in there early and it would be nice and cold but as soon as all the warm bodies fill the place, it gets hot quick. And yeah, basement shows are always way hotter!
Honestly, I've only had one problem while at the Masq after all these years of going there and it was a small problem. When I was a DJ for WRAS, I gave out some tix for some metal show and faxed the list. I faxed it several days early...someone in their staff lost it so I had to make a phone call and have it refaxed. The only reason it was an issue at all was because the security dude was a complete dickhead to me and he thought I was lying. Yeah when one of the managers brought out the guest list literally 5 minutes after I got off the phone he shut the fuck up. Also, another security dude and the door girl both recognized me and they were nice.

Fuckin hell, I got paid yesterday but it got all screwed up since I closed an account since I'm moving. Yeah sucks. They have to wait for it to bounce back from the closed account and then probably mail me a check next week. In other words, I'm not going so y'all have fun!

I don't really know why everyone complains about the Masquerade. I've lived in Atlanta like 4 years and it's maybe one of the better venues I've been in. I also lived in a city where there was no venue for the kind of music the Masquerade is willing to bring in. I think some of you bitches are just spoiled.

Yeah the only real problem I've had with them is no re-entry, guest list issue once but it got fixed fast, and the fat, bald hard-ass security guard. Otherwise, it's fine. But that's just me.

Where I grew up you either saw a band play in someone's living room when their parents were out of town or you drove two hours to Greenville. I wish I'd had the Masquerade back then. If it wasn't for the Masquerade I'd never see anything - I fucking hate the Tabernacle. But yeah, the no re-entry is a pisser.

Had a really fun time. This show should have not been in heaven, mistake number one. and we kind of ran in some shit with the masq at first but it was a pretty killer show.

So nothing to really cry about other than being able to sneak to your car and get a beverage or puff a pipe. And not knowing when to leave the hard-ass fat, bald security guy alone you would say the Masquerade is okay.
Oh yeah the show was rad 'cept the first band ewwww.

on both o those i hope you're kidding. masq is no big problem attending shows but trying playing there can be hell. i'm not gonna bitch too much because they hook us up with sweet shows, but they do require an insane amount of presale from multiple locals and the sound board guys can sometimes get super lazy for local bands. sometimes they tell bands they're playing and then replace them without notice
and i think doomed youth kicks ass. though i missed most of their set trying to keep my bassist from getting kicked out. apparently he drank a beer
