I just moved to the area from Boston for work. I have no friends here and don't know my way around too much. I'm a metal chick in my 30's, mostly into underground black metal, old-school thrash, etc. I'm also a vocalist with a few doom bands. What does one do around here?

(except I just moved to Tallahassee and I'm in the same boat you are...I don't know anyone at all here! I met some random chick at the pool in my apartment complex yesterday and wound up going out with her to some upscale bar last night because I have NOTHING else better to do LOL class starts Monday so I'll be busy after that ha.)

anyways, there's tons of shows to go to as you can see in the concert thread. Dragon Con is coming up and that should be alot of fun. If you're short on money, just go for one or 2 days, not all 4. There's old school horror/ gore movies shown once a month at The Plaza Theater courtesy of Splatter Cinema. Haunt season is about to start...definitely check out Netherworld Haunted House when it opens. There's house parties from time to time...they'll probably be posted on here. It seems like every single weekend I had to pick and choose from like 5 different things going on because I can't go to everything! I think you'll like Atlanta. \m/

the concert section of the board stays pretty up to date with topics about upcoming metal/punk shows so check there. if you like thrash, black metal, and doom you should check out the show tomorrow (8/26) at the masquerade w/ Withered, Zoroaster, Primate, and Spewtilator
