This stuff was pretty pleasant. the pumpkin flavor was nice and not overpowering and didn't taste chemically or anything like some fruity beers can. Gave the ale a kind of "warm" flavor. Worth trying if you are cool with flavored beer.
Still all about that Wychwood Scarecrow. So light, fresh and clean tasting.
Wychwood used to make a great beer called
Fiddler's Elbow, but it doesn't seem to be in their lineup anymore. Hobgoblin is the standard at our house, although my wife is the beer connoisseur and is more into Stone & Rogue breweries now.
Actually, Giant at Toco carries Fiddler's Elbow. I have one in the fridge at home. I'll pop it tonight and check it out. There's also a glorified Hobgoblin that I saw on the website. Don't recall the name right now.
Any suggested flavors of S&R? I don't think I've tried any of their products. Thanks for the tip.
Oh good, I didn't see Fiddler's on their website and thought it was discontinued. I think the one you were talking about is called King Hobgoblin. I would like to try that one.
Anything by Stone is good. I like their regular IPA, Levitation Ale, and Ruination IPA, and the Arrogant Bastard (there is an Oak-aged version too but $$$).
Rogue is hard to find here, but everything that I have tried from them is good. The Brutal IPA , Dead Guy Ale, and the Yellow Snow IPA are all excellent. Their Chocolate Stout comes highly recommended if you can find it.
There is a microbrew, Wild Heaven, in Avondale that makes a delicious beer called Invocation. It is a Belgian-inspired ale that is one of the best beers that I have ever tasted. It is pricey, but the Growler store in Avondale has it on tap. They make a brown ale called Ode to Mercy that is pretty freakin' good too.
Ha, I was thinking that the brewery was called "Stone and Rogue," not that you were referring to two different brands. I've seen both of their stuff around fairly regularly. I've had a few from each, but the only one that made an impact was the Arrogant Bastard and I didn't really like it. I know this is a crime, but I'm not down with heavily hopped beers. A little goes a long way with me.
I'm going to be on the lookout for that Wild Heaven. Whole Foods on Ponce is selling growlers now, maybe they'll carry it. I rarely get out Avondale ways.
Thanks for the tips.
I recently picked up a couple other pumpkin brews, Post Road Pumpkin Ale and Weyerback Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Both brews were kinda pricey, too spicy and just generally not great. Shipyard Pumpkinhead at Green's on Ponce at less than $7 a sixer are the deal. Tasty, light and cheap (for this kind of stuff, anyway).

I'm changing my tune on this statement. I drank these way too warm the first time. Now that I've had them properly chilled I still think think the Post Road sucks and while not undrinkable, I'd be much happier with a Bud Lite in hand. The Weyerback on the other hand is seriously good shit. It's heavier and higher gravity than the Shipyard Pumpkinhead and most of the time I'd probably rather have that, but this Weyerbach shit is on point for sitting around the house chilling. Fuck that Post Road, Brooklyn Brewery junk.
I hit up Giant yesterday with a shopping list pulled from here and a couple other sources and was amazed to find that they had everything on my list and nearly everything discussed on here. I could only pick up so much at once, but it's comforting that to know that they are holding everything I'm looking to try.

Yep I just drank the Weyerbacher Pumpkin Ale last night too.The first few sips were OK but halfway through the spices really shined though and it tasted really good.
Also drank the Hobgoblin finally...it was alright...nothing special but not bad.
I'm drinking Allagash White right now...it's awesome. Nothing too crazy over the top with flavors but it just tastes really good and it's refreshing.

Young's Chocolate Stout and honey vanilla ice cream. Try getting a buzz over your next dessert.

I was just reading about this the other day and wanna try a stout float.
Just drank the Banana Bread Beer...gross. I like bananas but hate anything banana flavored (but I like Belgians and Hefeweizens...it's just a hint, not in your face all banana) so I didn't like it at all. I'm sure people that love banana flavored things will love it but it was not for me.

I mixed a 6 pack at Total Wine...also got Ruination and Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier but I'm drinking those tomorrow to celebrate moving into my new apartment in Tennessee.

Just drank the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier and the Ruination.
The Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier was one of the best beers I've ever had. Nothing about it blows you away. It's just a great, light beer with a great mouthfeel I've never felt from a beer before that just tastes damn good. It's not a light beer but it just doesn't feel heavy or make you full.
The Ruination was an amazing IPA. I expected it to blow me away with hops but the Hop Wallop I had a few weeks ago was way hoppier. Still, it was really good. I'm glad it wasn't like the Hop Wallop because that was too hoppy. Another one of my favorite IPAs now (DIPA if you wanna get techincal).

Ive got a ruination in the fridge from over a year ago so hopefully its mellowed out.I remember the hops being to bitter as opposed to the more citrus hops that I like.
Bells hopslam is prolly my favorite dipa but only comes out once a year,if you can find it and u like dipa's buy it! incredible>
Lagunitas hop stupid (stoopid:)is only like 4-5$ for a 220z and is a really good ipa.

I've never tried an IPA that old...do they taste good aged? I heard they're not good after that long but I guess it depends on the person.
I wanna try Hopslam.
I've had the regular Lagunitas IPA...that was actually my first IPA.

ya ipa's and ris's are perfect for aging because of the huge hops and alcohol.Only beer that didnt age well for me was a terrapin wake n bake but I think it was the coffee in there that went stale, sucks because that is a great beer.
