For Brian and Odinson and anyone else who digs the old style deathrock check out this list of fairly new bands. Almost all have bandcamp pages.

Some of this is fantastic.

Some of those bands are pretty killer! Never really explored Deathrock as a genre but I def like all the Dead Kennedys vibes I got from those linked. Vocals are kinda hit or miss for me, definitely liked the bands with chick singers better though muscially Agnostic Pray might have been my favorite.

Glad ya dig it. There is some great, great stuff in that genre. It appeals to me in the same way that nearly all of my favorite bands do; good songwriting takes precedence over technical wizardry.

Check out Spectres from Canada. They are one of my favorites of this new wave of deathrock. http://spectresvancouver.bandcamp.com/

Bellicose Minds are very good, too, but they don't seem to have anything on bandcamp.

Have you listened to grandparents of it all, 45 Grave?

Spectres was rad, I think the vocals were my favorite part actually, and the little guitar melodies.

I have never checked out 45 Grave. Where should I start?

I'll see if I can dig up some Bellicose Minds stuff once I'm on the home comp.

Yeah, I can't stop listening to those Spectres tracks. I need more...

For 45 Grave start with Sleep in Safety. It's one of those albums that I've been listening to for...let's just say way too long...and still get siked for everytime. You'll probably dig it if you like the femal vocals with this kind of stuff. You ever try TSOL? They have some stuff that's similar in that primitive kind of way that works so well for stuff in this genre.

While you are digging around for Bellicose Minds, also look for Moral Hex. That stuff kind of rides the line between the old anarcho punk and deathrock. Such a killer atmosphere.

bandcamp is a tease...I need to have it in my iPod , I'm still trying to hunt down a bellicose minds torrent myself

I will second sleep in safety that one doesn't get old and will check out moral hex and yeah cvlt nation is really the only site staying on top of the death rock resurgence, sure they mention Alaric on there who are really killing it and cold in Berlin is awesome in more of a Siouxsie vibe there new one I'm having to break down and get off iTunes as I have been getting my little fix from them off bandcamp

Ha. That's rad.

Also look up Horror Vacui throught AVANT records page on BC. Excellent, heavy Bauhaus-ish type stuff.
