While I bet the property was sold for a song, making that joint a boutique destination hotel for the Southeast is going to take some serious scratch.

I saw on fb that The Clermont said that they were working with the new owners and that they shouldn't be closing

Last time I was there I left just in time to miss Jeff Hanneman showing up.

I hope that means they're gonna stay open, but "boutique destination hotel" = Starbucks for the lounge in my mind.

They're gonna have to burn the building to the ground just to get the cockroaches and bedbugs out. Who will then merrily relocate to the Urban Outfitters. Tee hee.

I hear ya, but the Clermont Lounge has a lot of cache to it. Anthony Bourdain named it his favorite dive in America and lots of celebrities love it. It actually adds to the value of a boutique hotel, especially if they do it like some of the places in NYC like with themed rooms.

I'll be reserving an opening weekend stay in the GG Allin suite. Think of the amenities...
