Deathhammer -- Onward to the Pits. I've been meaning to check these guys out forever and the announcement in the show section was as good an excuse as any.

For the most part, I don't much care about innovation. I would have been perfectly happy had Slayer continued to release RIB and SOH in perpetuity. So, this one sounds good to my ears, most likely because it is in standard tuning.

I'm hearing some old Kreator and, overall, it has an early Slayer vibe. Like SNM era early. And I'm pretty okay with that. Those trilled riffs are familiar, too, buts can't quite place them. (Light bulb went on: very early Megadeth? EDIT: wrong. I think it is Darkthrone, maybe from Hate Them? This is obviously bothering me.). If this were released in the 80's, they would have been fucking huge.

tl/dnr: likey.

Dude, the high pitch shrieks make me insanely happy. Deathhammer is one of the top new Thrash bands who play honest and true Thrash.

...I say new, they've been at it for like a decade, but you know what I mean.

That's probaby where I'm getting the early Slayer vibe.

Nekromantheon -- Rise, Vulcan Spectre. Inspired by Deathhammer, I gave a quick listen to this on the way back to the office from lunch. I really wanted to turn the car around, go find a patio somewhere where metal could be played, and get tooted.

Dude! That album rules too. Check out Sauron from Michigan and then Inculter too. And I think you're already familiar with Antichrist (since you were at the show)

Rise, Vulcan Spectre is a killer record but I actually think their debut from 2010 'Divinity of Death' is better!
