How to sell a ton of CD's

Post by zla vydra » Fri July 6th, 2018, 11:53 am

I have approximately 2,500 metal CD's that I would like to liquidate. Let's say I got a late start on transferring files to a digital format.
The discs range from rare items (stuff I bought in Europe in the 90s) to run-of-the-mill (big-4 stuff, etc.) Any tips on the best way to turn these into cash? My initial plan is to try to sell the rarer ones piece by piece (modulistic terror) on a site like discogs and then try to find a store to buy the rest for $1-$2 each. Any ideas?

Just now seeing this. Yeah, definitely post something up here. I'm way interested, too.

I have about 100 listed on Discogs. Search under zlavydra. I busted out laughing when someone paid me $65 for the Metalmind reissue ofSlaughter in the Vatican.

I forwarded your discog listings to a friend that's still collecting CDs.
Who said a metal head can't be a bookie? I do it with a bookie pay per head

How has this worked out?

I've decided to liquidate my CD collection, too. I was slow to adopt the medium and then pretty much switched to mp3's when they became available.

Making a killing on discogs, as long as the discs are sought after and in good shape. I listed 1000 and have sold 400 so far. Some have gone for over $100.

I unloaded about 650 at Book Nook on N. Druid Hills for $400 cash.

Damn. Both of you getting rid of CD's? Zla, how long ago did you take your haul to Book Nook? And Knuck, you mostly selling on Discogs?

Ya -- I haven't put anything up for sale yet, but have been slowly adding CD's.

I'm too lazy to add eBay or whatever into the mix.

Based on the lack of response early, I didn't think anyone here was interested. Check out https://www.discogs.com/seller/zlavydra/profile
